Probably something with Mercs (Merc Units/Merc Companies/Merc Batallions/etc), since that makes the most sense. Hell, most of us are already recruiting!

All players will (presumably) be mercenaries. And our groups are called Merc Companies. This is not an MMORPG, keep in mind. It's something near a MMOS. Massively Multiplayer Online Simulator. Whatever you want to call it, still not an RPG.

Q. Will players have the ability to form their own custom clans in MechWarrior® Online™?
A. We're trying to be careful with the naming of some features in MechWarrior® Online™ and "clans" is one of them. Players will be able to form their own customized Mercenary Corporations (Merc Corps for short). These operate in the same way that the term clan refers to in other first person shooters. A better way of thinking about Merc Corps is as a "guild". Within the guild you can create Lances("parties") and join matches in that manner.
^^ Straight off the FAQ

Having hung around a few MW leagues in my time... I think I can be quite certain that there will be more - much more - than a few people RP'ing
MW is a simulation game, but many of us will I'm sure be fully immersing ourselves in the simulation to the point where MMOS and MMORPG get so blurred that you won't be able to tell the difference.
However to address the question of the OP - it depends.on what faction you are playing. Factions have in the past been known as
Houses / Clans / Merc companies
however mostof these factions are split iinto "Units"
and I think that will become the prevelant ..name...
"what unit are you in?" etc
Your "UNIT" is your guild, and one or more units will make up factions..... (thats how its always been before in MW leagues)

Oh I know I will be immersing myself with my Company and probably throwing some universe related banter at my enemies, but the focus of the game is combat like Mechwarriors in the past as far as I know. Not people standing around RPing like in LOTRO or other games like it.
