Q: I'm just curious, what sort of process do you guys go through when deciding which Battlemechs to put in the game? What variables do you find important? Of course weight class has to play a role, but what other factors? Exact weight, popular variants, loadout style (energy-heavy, missile-heavy), aesthetic, similarity/difference to already chosen chassis? [GARTH]

A: We use all of those criteria when deciding on new ‘Mechs – what do we already have? What do we think will help our load-out diversity? What would be unique? What screams ‘fantastic!’ All of these things are important. We want the largest pool of ‘Mechs possible, and to have each of them have their own pros and cons. The more choice people have, the more creative they can be and the more individualized to their play style. [GARTH]

Q: Will our Forum name be the same as our in-game name or will we be able to choose an alternate name in-game that is different from our Forum name? [MECHANUS]

A: Your ingame name and forum name will be the same. [GARTH]

Q: Do you prefer ketchup, mayonnaise or "something else" with your chips (Fries)? [DARGATHI]

A: Ketchup; though gravy is also pretty good. [GARTH]

Q: how much control of the jump jets will we have? Is it going to be like the jump jets from recent games that just shoot you up into the air and slow falls? Or is it going to the thrust vectoring so we can use them to shift to the side or rotate while we are flying/falling through the air? [CRESCENTHAWK]

A: You can change your movement by 'tapping' jump jets on and off. It's not like flying a helicopter, but it's more control that just a straight jump from A to B. [GARTH]

Good to hear about JJs, but not so thrilled to hear that some of the odder names will be in game......

I so need a new forum account then, once the founders packages become available. This one feels a little lame.

Gravy?! That's got to be a Canadian idiom.

So, do jumpjets provide a slight forward-thrust component instead of just 90 degrees perpendicular to ground?

That'd let you rotate your chassis in air and then "tap" the jets to move around in air.

Heeey, I asked that question, but I'm not Gar- Wait. Or am I?!

...No, no, definitely not. Darn. :P

So... I guess we won't be seeing the UrbanMech; it has no cons.

Surprised he didn't mention the cheese curds actually.

Anyway, interesting info there. Good to see that raw "cool" factor is one of the things they're looking at in choosing mechs.

Sure it does - it's just too cool. Pilots have a chance to randomly lose actions due to being overwhelmed by the coolness of the 'Mech they're piloting.

Honestly, I hope the jump jets don't give you much control. I don't want a bunch of bunny hopping snipers all over the place.

I'm a little disappointed with this Q&A. I was hoping for some of the muddled waters on the Founder's Mechs and Garth's claim that they will just be different and not superior to be cleared up.

These are concerns that may only be a week old, as old as the statement, but it's always best to nip these in the bud then let misinformation and opinion touted as fact spread like wildfire.
