June 19th, 2012. X-million players, being the sound investors they are, buy a $30 or $60 Founder Pack.

Elite Founders get to choose one of 4 Mechs (though I'd love if they offered a choice of any starting Mech) and on July 17th, we get to bring that Mech into battle in the Beta.

On the date when the game goes Gold and is available to all, players start out with the choice for 1 free Mech. So, do Elite Founders still get this option as well? Is it possible to get a beloved* member of PGI to confirm this?

I'd hope so. I mean, it'd suck paying $60 and not even getting the free toss away 'Mech everyone else starts with too.

Good question. I was under the assumption that the Operation Inception mechs would replace your normal choices.

I'm going to add on.. I'm also curious if, as new 'Mechs are introduced before release, will there be additional Founder's 'Mechs to choose from?

For example, say the Big E3 announcement is the Unseen becoming..well, seen.. would there be a Founder's version of say a Shadow Hawk?

It would really suck if you picked something like the Atlas for your Founder's mech, but then didn't like how assaults handled. Now you are stuck with it forever. Got to hope there will be time to test out all the mechs in Open Beta!

I really think they said it somewhere.... don't remember where though...
Anyway, I think that you will be able to start with 2 mechs.

I don't expect it will have a second starter mech involved.

You're already getting a ton of extra goodies on top of your $60 purchase($80 worth of MC, special skin, special cockpit model, lifetime c-bill increase, 60 days worth of cbill/xp boost, name tag), I don't really see how you can justify wanting another free thing.

I will be very hesitant to choose which Founder's mech I take, though. A test drive would be ideal. Anyone already in the closed beta will certainly have a strong advantage in already knowing how the mechs fare.

They're listed in the announcement.

My thought at this point is that you SHOULD get the baseline choice that everyone gets plus the Founders package mech. The reality is that you are paying for the goodies in the package, NONE of it is free--so it represents additional material and bonuses that you have BOUGHT. It would be nice to have definitive word on this though.

I dont see why we wouldn't get the the elite mech AND a regular starter mech. First off, it doesn't say anything about upgrading the mech to an elite, or replacing it. It simply says you get one. On top of that, you did just shell out $60 to play a free game, why wouldn't they give you a normal mech as well?

Why? Because they're already giving you $80 worth of money plus a pile of other stuff.

I certainly won't complain if they do give us two mechs, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

2 mechs would be nice but we all know if we get our hands on 2 atlas, 1 is going to get instantly sold for cash. so why not just give us the c-bills at the beginning instead of a mech.

Well, getting a Mech just to sell it, is kind of stupid. Choice is the power in this game.

Besides of that, I always understood it as getting a free mech besides the one you can buy/get for free at the beginning.

I would assume people that buy the elite pack will get the same starting c-bills. mech credits, whatever that normal players get plus their bonus mech and cash. There is no reason not to give them the same free content that everyone else gets. As others have mentioned above it would only sever to upset a number of paying customers if they were not given the free content.

From the mech lab video it looks like you buy your starting mech with c-bills. If that is the case, people who buy the founders pack may have the ability to start out with a whole lance if that is how they want to spend their starting c-bills.

As a consumer, I would expect the founders mech and the starter as well.

It looked like to me, from the screenshots of the mechlab that you will be able to buy and sell mechs/munitions and the like. So If you didn't like your starter mech, sell it and get another. Or you know win with it enough until you can buy another.
