80$ is a lot.

How much of the game could we skip out on with it?

Is anyone else worried that it might be too much?

What are your plans to do with your largess?

I expect it should be enough to get one or two additional 'Mech chassis, plus some nice additions to them. I'd be happy if it was enough to get me a single additional 'Mech and let me fully customize it within the limits of the hardpoints.

You know you just set the price your willing to pay for a Mech at 30-60 dollars right?

'Mechs, modules, weapons and equipment for customization... You could probably kit out a few chassis pretty nicely.

I'd be more interested in non-mech items.

I do think I need to add to my claim here. I do think that $80 should be enough to buy more than 12 mechs, assuming they launch with 12 mechs. All variants of those mechs? No, considering that there may be 3 or 4 variants per mech. So spending between $5 and $10 on a mech sounds reasonable. But if the pricetag on mechs came to be about $2 then that just really makes C-Bills feel undervalued.

And in non-mech purchases I would love to purchase cosmetics. Things like a Hula Girl for my mech, or custom skins and models for mechs and weapons.

@Kanatta jing - I expect it would be 20-60 dollars aswell. Just using World of Tanks as an model since they have tanks ranging in those price ranges and some below. That not saying I will spend $60 on a mech, just what I expect to see. Would like it to be less.

Yep, and I think that's about the right price point.

Buying an individual 'Mech should not be a trivial endeavor, whether purchased with C-Bills or cold, hard, cash. I'd expect things to be a little cheaper if I bought just an empty chassis with no weapons or equipment, but when I'm going to be buying a complete walking death machine, I expect it to be a pricey proposition.

Unless they plan on selling mechs for around $5 then $80 won't provide enough money to get even the 12 basic chassis, let alone their variants.

From my WoT experience it's clear that people are willing pay $40 to $60 for a single internet tank in the form of a Lowe or T59, so if MWO is selling mehcs for below $20 then it is woefully underpricing itself and voiding the point of a premium account as far as grinding mechs goes.

im hoping we're not paying that much per O.o

an you CAN buy them with cbills yes?
cause only being able to buy mechs with real money is far into that forbidden pay to win field O.o

Considering that $80 is more than most games cost to buy i would hope it comes with a large amount of stuff. As for mechs, yeah those would be nice. :) i hope ultimately that you get mechs maybe not all. I would like to still have to work to getting some stuff. I think skins and other non mech stuff should be the bulk of what you get. I will be interested in seeing what all is included.

Hmmm....things that we can buy?

-Different coloured lasers? *ZAP ZAP ZAP*
-Camos/Skins
-More mech bay slots
-Is there a max cieling for C-Bills? Perhaps free accounts have a limit.
-SLDF Insignia and tags. Only through the store. (i'm sure families and pilots that stayed keep tabs throughout their lineage, wherever they ended up.)

I would think, if $80 is a giveaway, camo schemes etc may be something like $5-10. Permanent additions for your selection tend to be fairly pricey.

Any more wild speculation?

P.S: They have already stated this will not be pay 2 win. Why do people think you can buy mechs with real money at all?

So, if it takes $30 - $60 to buy a mech..... how long will it take to get that cash in game ? You have to be joking to think a part of a game will cost as much as the game itself.

I don't want it to be enough to buy every 'Mech, 2-4 depending on what I bought and how much I spent on upgrading them. Personally if it's enough to let me buy and fully customize the Cataphract the way I want, plus enough to totally rebuild the Founders Jenner I'm going to have with a little extra left over I'll be happy.

Of course I'm planning on totally rebuilding the Jenner with EndoSteel, XL, ECM, BAP, NARC(1 ton of ammo), FF, another JJ (total 6), DHS and retain the same speed and Lasers. 8/12/6, 4 MLas, full scout kit, extra JJ, yeah I totally expect that Jenner upgrade to cost me at least as much as a brand new Jenner if not more.

Plus the changes to the Cataphract, Endosteel, swap the XL for a standard, switch to DHS, drop the UAC/5, replace 2MLas for LLas, ECM, etc. So if my $80 worth of in game cash lets me buy the Cataphract and to all those upgrades with a little left over, I'll be plenty happy.

I dunno about you guys, but I'm planning on buying $80 worth of hula dancers and just filling my entire cockpit to the brim with them.

I would guess mechs at $10 to $25 based on popularity and tonnage.

This is not something I would want to have to buy and think it seems ludicrous.

Panzerbunny's idea about different laser colors is interesting; I'd assumed laser color would be based around the size of the weapon. Blue large, green small, or whatever. Changing up the colors might actually be a small advantage, an opponent might mistake the danger they are in if they aren't paying attention to their damage read out.

For myself, hoping for the hula-girl. I'm expecting extra mech bay slots to cost so that is a consideration. After that, it will depend on what their offering.

In a Mechlab video they showed the process of buying a Mech.

It had a "Buy with C-Bills" and a "Buy with MC" button.
