i always turn music off in every game, but march of the valkyries would be a good one to go in with .....ala Apocalypse Now :)

Thats Wagner: The in the Mythology the Valkyries are angel like Childeren of Oden who would go down to the Battlefield to collect the Dead warriors who where True/Honorable Heroes and bring them back to Valhalla.
In the story one of them : Brunhilde falls in love with one ect.ect. ect. (Ring of the Nibelungen, )

I saw one version of the Opera where they came on the Battlefield riding Harley Choppers.

I'm for the PGI MWO soundtrack. If I want to listen to other music, I go to sound options, turn down the In-game music to 0, and start my iTunes Mech Warrior Playlist.

I think having you own music in the cockpit would be awesome along with like an actual imported photo or two to make the cockpit really personal. I think they should allow us to import a set amount of mp3s into our own radio. They could present it also like the radio stations in the GTA games with a couple options and some news flashs from combat elsewhere. It ould also be very cool if they could put in a pilot animation showing us changing or starting the music well in combat. that woud be bad ***. for a straight up soundtrack they should have some atmospheric tunes that maybe go with the flow of battles, programed to pick up and match the intesity of the battle on screen. I would think Trent Reznor would be a solid pick to head up the game music. anyone with me on this?

being able to shut off in-game music had better be an option. If I want music, I can bring up my fav music player, select and listen. Frankly, I never listen to music while I play, I'd rather hear the missiles coming in from wherever they are coming in from (surround is awesome fo MW games). Also, I'd want to hear my teammates talking to me anyway.

Just posting some more Electro Swing, this time somewhat Battletech Related on the basis of the title of the song and its time.

I present to you the song "12 Juin 3049" by Caravan Palace

I think that the Mechwarrior should be able to disable the in-game music as well as have the option to use
his/her own music playlists. Having the option to listen to either the in-game ambient music or their own music,
or just the sound of pure tonnage stomping, jump jets firing, missles launching, and projectile and energy based
weapons discharging. ;)

Anything by Sabaton...WWII metal, pretty intense. It always seems to give the feeling of last chance combat!

Wow I'm so glad this thread has kept up, but i feel that there is becoming too great a focus on the MUSIC(not something i would normally have a problem with). We need to remember that in order for the game to have the correct feel, there needs to be more involved than just music and weapons fire, there is a whole spectrum of small pieces that must come together to create something greater than the sum of its parts. I'm talking about the whole AMBIANCE of the game, and we can't forget the fact that we will need to be able to communicate with each other during the game meaning that the music will have to either be very quite or turn off when someone is talking.

What I'm hoping for is a nice blend of it all: appropriate music to the situation(ie. if your winning the music should be high energy and if your losing the music should convey something more frantic and/or desperate), but i would also like to be able to hear some appropriate background chatter as well(ei. if your winning the background noise should indicate your forces are pushing the enemy back and vise-versa). These are just some examples of simple ways the Devs can help promote immersion of the players.
