10k mb = 10 GB, your not going to have an issue playing MWO.

Yup, just cut out a couple hours of Netflix (Or whatever other service you have up there) per month, and you'll be more than safe. The only problem you might have is the first month when you have to download the game itself. (Or times when there are major updates) But they might offer a service where you can pay to have a game disc mailed to you instead of downloading it.

In order to use up 10gb per month, you'd have to be constantly streaming/torrenting. You really shouldn't have anything to worry about. If, however, you do reach your data caps, you know where the piggies are, and know where to cut back.

Unfortunately, it would be virtually impossible for any of us to figure out your family's internet usage, or whether this will cover it. I should like to think that your internet provider can tell you how much bandwidth you've been using each month; from that, you should be able to figure out if you can make this work.

^Truth. Call up your ISP, and ask them how much data you used up last month. Most ISPs will have that statistic on hand.

Some ISPs will even have the information available on their website in the 'account management' login page, so you can burn another 100-200kb just checking. ;)

But yeah, I used to work as a Customer Service Representative (aka 'phone monkey') for one of the big ISPs down here in Cannuckistan; dealt with enquiries and billing issues relating to bandwidth use and overage all the time.

As for you manually monitoring your bandwidth, there ARE applications out there you can download (anyone see the irony there?) that will simply keep tally of the data down- and up-loaded as you go, but there's always the dubious reliability depending on the source and risk of malware sneaking in onto your computer (and hogging up bandwidth on its own) from that. Best if you speak with your ISP - first step would be to ask to see the old bills your family was sent; they should mention the total bandwidth used during the billing period.

But yeah, unless video streaming is your family's primary source for entertainment, throwing an online multiplayer shooter/sim isn't going to push the household's usage up that much.

Hope This Helps!

If you want to have fun with it, substitute whatever is censored with a random type of fruit or vegetable, just to make people wonder what the hell they're reading. For example, "Just cut down on the banana downloads, and you should be fine." For even more entertainment, substitute the name of a colour for a second word in the sentance; for example, "Just cut down on the banana downloads, and you should be cyan."

have any friends or relatives at McMurdo Station in Antarctica? Ask them. or the Guys serving in Afghanistan. Really, do something with your life, and learn about others.

Actually, most people have bandwidth limits. They're just so high, that no one really notices. I didn't even know I had a 200gb limit until I bought an OnLive console and left it paused while I went out to dinner. That thing eats bandwidth like crazy. O_O

I know, i recently figured out my provider limited the bandwidth from unlimited to 250gb... its barbaric.

Another option to download the game that will suck less than waiting 1-2 years is start the download near the end of the cycle, download up to your limit, pause it and finish the next day when you have a fresh 10g.

Another option might be if you can find someone up there in the frozen north with higher capacity and have them dl and burn it to a cd for you...

Maybe you have a internetmodem that has a function or statistic that counts the data and maybe you even have a setup for an traffic-limit-alarm.
There should also be software but i only know ancient one when it was around 2001 and it was win98 software that wont help you but there should be a traffic measuring tool available somewhere in the internet working with modern computers.
Gaming itself usually does not have that big traffic depending how efficient the data packages be MWO will send and receive.

I found some data that some unspecific mmos i.e. may use not more than a traffic of 10 Kilobit/s.
You would get some hundred Megabyte of traffic when playing many hours each day, maybe 500 Megabyte.
We dont know if MWO will send much more data, the developers would have to tell us.
