Plan is to get a unit of hopefully 24-40 players from any time zone that are willing to drive more then just assaults... Nice final outcome would be 6-8 pilots each with the 4 classes as their primary ride and a second ride they are also bette rthen average in.. Allowing for almost any combo mission group...
I play times are 2pm-10pm MST Tue-Sat until NHL starts playing in Oct then 10pm-6am MST running until my team is out of teh playoffs then back to the other times.... Once I get a new PC for my other gaming location I will also be adding about 4 hours to the end of each time slot...
So if interested drop a note either here or IM me...
I've been playing one version or another of Battletech since 1984.. I have taken a break the last few years after MW4 burnout back in 03-04

"We will increase our capabilities by adding tanks and infantry to go along with our mechs!!!"
"Thats great Stackpole, how we gonna fit hundreds of infantry men, all their food and gear, all those tanks, and all the FUEL for all those tanks, on our limited dropship supply and then cart them around with our even MORE limited Jumpship supply??"
"****! As Stackpole has written, so shall it be!!!"

Stackpole didn't invent the RCT. He isn't even THAT smart.
Still, it's not that mech regiments didn't fight with conventional units otherwise, it was that they used to just grab up independent regiments that were headed in their direction. The result was kind of a mixed bag; sometimes you got lucky and got a skilled unit, sometimes not. The RCT was supposed to solve that by having conventional forces that were permanently attached.
The armor units are a good addition, but the five regiments of infantry seems a bit much. Post-Jihad they seem to scale it back a bit in favor of having additional battalions of battle armor, which make a lot more sense and are about as easy to haul around as regular infantrymen.

Yup, Been There Done That.
But it doesn't really apply to a universe with mechs fighting wars across hundred of planets.
I could give specifics, but this isn't really the place.

Sure it does... YOu still need garrison units and such... Who do you think mans the Arty and Holds strong points. Also since the game will not be using armor or AeroSpace fighters why does it matter.

1st Fedcom RCT: Guardians of a New Order
The parade colors of the Federated Commonwealth Corps are navy blue with gold banding on the arms and legs. Gold is also used on the upper torso of the 'Mechs and the turrets of armor units to highlight panels, resulting in a checkerboard pattern.

The insignia of the Federated Commmonwealth RCTs is a hybrid of that used by the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth; the backdrop is the Davion Sunburst, over which is the mailed fist of House Steiner, and in front that the Davion Sword. The insignia for the First RCT is a dragon clutching a sword, flanked by two lightning bolts. Per FM:Federated Suns, pages 90 and 91[/color]
