I like most of the heavy mechs, so it's a toss up what I'll run with. I do have an Archer variant that I run in my TT merc game. Based on the ARC-2R, the original Archer, I striped all 4 MLs, 6pts armor from each arm and 2pts from each leg, then mounted a LL in the CT.

You'll probably like the -2K and it's advanced brothers if they introduce the Archer in MWO. Downgrades the LRM racks to 15's, replaces the lasers with a pair of larges and two extra heat sinks. Runs hot on it's energy guns, but nice and cool with the missiles or alternated fire. The advanced tech Rasalhague version, the -5R is a lot like the -4M is to the standard -endosteel, Artemis on the 15's, boosts the larges to ER larges and the heat sinks to doubles, which makes the laser spam a lot more doable. CASE too, but not quite as much armor as the traditional. Still a solid ride.

Why??? I'm looking at the 3050 specs for it, and even then, it's pretty high on the heat index. It's going to need to flush it's coolant a LOT in a firefight, or else risk shutting down. Maybe I'm not seeing in it what you are....?

Considering coolant flushes are a relic of MW4 (and don't exist anywhere else), it's not gonna be getting away with that. Classically, Black Knight pilots had to avoid alpha striking like the devil, but had a good shot selection at almost any range. Long range, you could slap a PPC + LL in, medium range you could goose them with the twin LL's and a medium, and close in you'd use the ML's and the occasional large laser bolt to mess people up. That's for the original -6, the -6b had the ER PPC for long work, but preferred to be inside 300 meters where the double heat sinks let it ruin people with the large pulses + medium lasers- something that only slowly heated it up, usually killing the other guy first. -7's were downgrades from the League era -6's, so they tended to be more fragile, but the -7 -L version swaps out it's PPC for a large laser. Sorta an infighter's Awesome, especially since it still has the backup mediums.

I'll second the Ostsol, I'd also love to see the Hammerhands, but it's basically a warhammer with ACs instead of PPCs so I could see why it wouldn't be included.

There are a lot of good Heavy IS mechs for whatever roll you need them. My favorite available in the 3025-3050 ere is the Grasshopper GHR-5J, 70 tons max speed about 65 kph jump capable (120meters) 13tons of armor, and ER Large Laser, 2 med lasers a Streak SRM2 and an Anti-Missile System. That version sacrifices the long range of the GHR-5H for extra close in firepower and extra staying power, the 5H mounts a Large Laser, 4 medium lasers and a LRM5 otherwise it's profile is the same. So they have average heavy mech speed, more armor than a Warhammer and are nasty in fighters because of their close range weapons and Jump capabilities while maintaining the ability to not be ignored at range.

Sadly, the Hammerhands is extinct in 3049, but gets revived with new designs later on. Now the Ostsol is pretty fun stuff. Anything that puts near zero armor on the arms and says essentially "Hey! These are meat shields for MAH LAZOR CHEST!" is fun to drive, and they're fast for a heavy.

RFL-3C Rifleman
MAD-3D Marauder
WHM-6D Warhammer
CRD-3D Crusader
FLS-7K Flashman
QKD-4G Quickdraw (I DFA'd a Clan Warhawk with this in my first TT game.)

Some love for the not-much mentioned variants.

Yeah, I seem to remember coolant flushes not being mentioned in any of the novels, and haven't heard of it mentioned anywhere else, other than MWLL, so I that part is true... it'd have to avoid alpha strikes like the sevens pits of hell!

That said however, I wonder... was the -6b around in this time period? I know the TECHNOLOGY to build it was, but had they created that particular design yet? On the Black Knight specs I'm looking at, it only had standard heat sinks (20 of them), not double. Remember, just because the tech exists doesn't mean it's readily available!

I know its a couple of years late (3052) but I really love the BNDR-01A Bandersnatch. 6 Medium Lasers(2 of which are rear mounted) 3 LRM-5 launchers and 2 LBX AC/10s firing multiple ammo types.

Not to mention its parts interchangability with the Marauder.

Yes please.

Although i also love the Cataphract CTF-3L.

BL-6b-KNT

Just a bad *** mech all around. No ammo dependance holding it back from extended forays away from supply lines. Beagle active probe to snoop out sneaky mechs. No XL engine.

I'd like to make sexeh time with it. No lie.

Damn, had a thought it might be, but sarna isn't always clear...Guess the next choice of mine would be the Cataphract, since the MWO one looks cool, and the standard CTF-3D variant is good enough for me.

If a Black Knight is what you want try the BL-9-KNT model.

The Hammerhands is back in the 3075 technical readout for the WoB era, so who knows if it'll get brought into mwo. I saw the Flashman on that list above, it's such an awesome energy boat and the head mounted "Zippo" flamer is just fun.

It reminded me of the Exterminator EXT-4A and EXT-4D. It's a ComStar and StarLeague mech. Even without the "lost tech" stealth and ecm systems that most of them didn't have anyway they are my favorite lost tech heavy.

EXT-4D (Star League) 65 tons, max speed 97kph, jump capable, 1 LRM10, 4 Medium lasers, 1 small laser, 1 AMS and 10.5 tons of armor with double heat sinks and an XL engine. It's a good heavy skirmisher or headhunter.

The Warhammer WHM-6Rb (Royal Warhammer). Twin PPCs, medium lasers, small lasers and an SRM-6 w/Artemis IV...and heat efficent!

Champion CHP-1Nb

Ever since piloting one in MW3 I have liked this 'Mech and I know it's not the best of 'Mech's but I really would love to pilot one again (tweaked to my own specification of course) :)

That's one I hadn't even thought of, but hell, I'm going to name the Champion as my choice too. None of the manufactured variants quite fully reach my ideal load out, but I'm sure there would be room to work with it. It got a certain sense of class to it in my eyes. 60 tons is a nice middle ground, and I'm sure with a bit of careful customization it could really punish those looking to underestimate it.

Cataphract in the Heavy category. Nice mix of long and short range weapons, along with a mixture of Ammo and Energy platforms. Has a mechanical hand for any manipulation (or punching) that I might need, and jump jets for extra battlefield maneuverability.

both the dragon and the marauder can be modded to be very powerful, i think if i were to take a marauder, i would build from one that has jumpjets, the grand dragon DRG-7K sounds pretty nice too, however i don't know when it was put into service.

RFL-5D. Better heat management (assuming you don't Alpha) version of one of Hanse's Riflemen.
