Considering coolant flushes are a relic of MW4 (and don't exist anywhere else), it's not gonna be getting away with that. Classically, Black Knight pilots had to avoid alpha striking like the devil, but had a good shot selection at almost any range. Long range, you could slap a PPC + LL in, medium range you could goose them with the twin LL's and a medium, and close in you'd use the ML's and the occasional large laser bolt to mess people up. That's for the original -6, the -6b had the ER PPC for long work, but preferred to be inside 300 meters where the double heat sinks let it ruin people with the large pulses + medium lasers- something that only slowly heated it up, usually killing the other guy first. -7's were downgrades from the League era -6's, so they tended to be more fragile, but the -7 -L version swaps out it's PPC for a large laser. Sorta an infighter's Awesome, especially since it still has the backup mediums.
Yeah, I seem to remember coolant flushes not being mentioned in any of the novels, and haven't heard of it mentioned anywhere else, other than MWLL, so I that part is true... it'd have to avoid alpha strikes like the sevens pits of hell!
That said however, I wonder... was the -6b around in this time period? I know the TECHNOLOGY to build it was, but had they created that particular design yet? On the Black Knight specs I'm looking at, it only had standard heat sinks (20 of them), not double. Remember, just because the tech exists doesn't mean it's readily available!
