Will you be able to aim for specific body parts like the arms, legs, or head?

I know you can do this manually, but you should also be able to tell your missiles to lock on to these parts.

Missiles? Probably not.

Only way to "tell them" was to aim in a specific direction after you got the lock. aiming narrowly (torso), aim up and they hit at 45° angle, fire them to the side and there's a chance they'll hit the arm.

Manually aimed weapons I can see doing this, missiles probably not. You would either have to take the time to designate a location each time you lock on, or set it as a preference. Which would be a bit like having a hack to only get headshots.

i think he means like in mechwarrior 3 when you could target specific sections of a mech with a hotkey.

I sure hope not. It'll take a lot of the fun out of the game if you can Alpha a leg off an Atlas.

MechWarrior 3, by default only allowed to select targets. BUT if you had a targeting computer, it added inertia predicted spot (distance x sped x direction), where you need to target your guns, like in space simulators (wing commander series, privateer, X-series, starlancer, freelancer, all of 'em), that was the way to improve accuracy for an unskilled pilot, who doesn't know how to predict enemy movement... It was some like buggy, if you had mixed weapons group with different flight-time-to-target.

As far as I know, targeting computers are clan invasion tech, and IS TC came only after clan invasions, so we wont see it ingame anytime soon.

missiles arent guided in mwo. you lock on to target to shoot missiles at them. if the target moves enough you will miss.

artemis improves automatic target lead and lock on time so it boosts accuracy of missiles hitting, but dont expect lrms to be magic light mech killers if the little ******** are going 100+ and weaving.

i have a working brain i can do this myself, hell in mech 3 online play not only did you do this yourself, you added lead distance to accomodate pings and lag shoot.
