so just say i've been drooling over this forum for some time and am i finally proud to announce the start of my own simpit. i have gathered a lot of ideas from this forum along with some of my own into a go big or go home project. i wanted a multi use pit that was not tied directly to mw so i do not plan on going into full mech detail but i still thought the project worthy of a share for feed back and any help or critique
i love mw been a fan since mw3 (i was like ten lol) i dont know a whole lot about the lore i am a casual gamer as i am very busy with work and family but what little time i do have to myself ive spent researching this project i am so excited to share with you guys so here is where i started and where i am at hope you like it

so this is where i currently am on the build about 65% done with the framing still a long ways to go. yes its big and heavy but it is actually four pieces that will interlock and stack together hence the modular. the finished project will be around eight modules or so all playing important roles. as for the screens im going with three main screen a 32 inch tv in the center with two 21 inch monitors turned on their sides. as for the top screen its a 20 inch tv i will use for multi tasking gaming console/netflix what ever. one goal i have for the pit is to be totally synced with all my electronics a command center if you will. the screens all have customs mounts as you can some what see as i saw the stock mounts were cheap garbage that broke real easy so i hacked them all and installed machine screws through the back while also rewiring power switches and tv adjustment buttons to be in the pit with me some where on a panel.

Thanks guys framing is the easy part I've been trying to figure out how to make duel joysticks work in game so far best I can see is hack one up and transplant to another brand joystick or go with virtual controller not sure what is better

okay guys update time

framing on walls

found a seat

started roof module

started chair\door module

scored the chair from an old ready mix truck (i work for the owner on days off) its a wee bit dirty plan on cleaning it up not the best but you just cant beat the price. and i cant bring myself to spend $200+ on a gaming chair ill make my own:)
you might notice a few pieces out of square, hard finding straight lumber at my small town hardware store but im working out the kinks. that's about it next update set for two weeks from now so enjoy later guyshttp://Posted Image

and here is the pit disassembled it takes about five minutes and i am able to do it alone each piece has been tested fitted through interior door ways as they same to be the smallest and i am very pleased with the results. Although i have found some pieces need to be reinforced slightly im sure the sheet wood would fix the problem but i would rather do it now just in case. after that im finishing the interior panels making sure it all lines up then cut out holes for instruments panels. these will be seperate panels of more than likley arclic that well be fastened with machine screws for future purposes with out damaging the wooden framing. also i still need to build the actual computer/climate control/adriuno module or as i say the systems module. also i am configuring my joy stick set up but that one is staying in the dark for now later guys

hey guys been a while just a quick update, the pit has been moved to the basement where im sure it will stay. as for progress not much to show as life has been a little crazy the last few months. i am in the oilfield and if any of you have seen the price per barrel you already know. My side job of cement trucks has slowed being winter, right now im figuring out what to do about a chair since comfort was one main reason this idea sparked. The pit itself has gone to a whole new level in design as i am sticking to the go big or go home theme. Here is an update of things i have planned in the following months.

full automation through entire pit every aspect controlled via computer chip (the board is being built now my brother is an electrical engineer thats far beyond my skill set

voice commands for in game as well as main features

actuated joysticks doors monitors seat possible throttle and pedals in the future

so theres a few things probably the biggest challenges but almost all of it is planned out ready to build just waiting for the funds to start rolling:)

I know all too well how that is.
Best of luck on the job front. Maybe take this time to tune up your painting skills or work on small 'fluff' items like fake air canisters/etc.
