You can never be sure Dal...

Catalyst already announced that once they finish the TRO 3145 to clean up after WizKids they are jumping to 3200s and make a new era themselves. Thus they can experiment and get fan reaction on whatever changes they may want to do or not do once they really get into writing new lore.

See, Davions got really screwed. If the overall fan reaction is negative, they can easily remake it for 3200s so Davions get the territory back and make the new First Prince a great leader. Or give the other side some madman...

in terms of pure size the davions went from being the largest house to about the same as the combine. Steiner was extremely hard hit and marik is about the same size as steiner.

As with the previous instances of contrived power rebalance (I'm looking at you, FedCom civil war and WOB), the Federated Suns are going to continue to lose until they reach a predetermined "right" size. After passing this point the FedSuns will miraculously start winning again through the use of a forced plot device, such as another Kentares or the Chancellor going crazy and decimating his own forces.

You mean the Fourth Succession War, right?

... altough all four went to trash for us.

Like the fact that the CCAF and DCMS forces are both in deep salients just begging to be cut off?

you really can't cut off them, there are uninhabited systems.

So, who got to off Caleb?
(Rather hoping that it was Danai...)

Pretty much - the Sword-and-Sunburst shall rise again! :)

kurita bombarded him from orbit. however i am pretty sure you guys lost the heads of 2 marches and the first prince without an heir. as well as a large chunk of your military. no amount of plot armor is going to allow you to bounce back very fast. (unless julian becomes first prince, though even then it would be difficult for you guys to do more than hold your ground at where you are at.)

Nah, the poor ******* was planning an invasion of CC when Draconians invaded. He started operation "sunshower" ( :)), but that only resulted in him mustering all the forces in a super-secret hard to find and expect position (the only working HPG station)...

Kuritans found out and simply hammered the planet with the whole fleet. Many Davies fled, even more were torn to shreds by the bombardments. Caleb survived those and was found by a Draconian company of mechs. Albeit under direct orders not to kill him, some *****'s nerves didn't hold it (they couldn't attack, yet Caleb was giving them all he's had with his tank) and he stomped on the poor tank. You can guess Caleb didn't make it and the guy (as is the tradition in DCMS) comitted sepukku next day.

Admittedly, having a First Prince who is insane didn't help the Federated Suns in this era. That being said, I'm sure once the Fed-suns rally, you liao will be getting boot crushed again.

The IS map over the years looks very similar to Africa. Borders change but at the end nothing else really does.

I almost wish a semi-unification war can happen that will bring us back to a new balance of the 5 major houses, but that ship looks like it sailed when the clan invasion happened.

Well, darn.
And here I was hoping for an epic 'Mech-vs-tank duel, with Caleb the Insane being slain by Danai, the object of his twisted love/lust, while she was at the helm of the FedSuns' one-time champion (Yen Lo Wang)... or something like that.

Maybe after all the dust settles we'll see a revival of an independent St. Ives Compact as a buffer state. ;D

that is unlikely to happen. they only ran due to max + romano the first time. without someone like candace to lead them away it won't work. also, at this point and time CapCon has the strongest military. we didn't downsize our armies like stone told us to. we just hid all the stuff.

we are sneaky

They want to jump to the 3200s? We've barely started 3145. They've managed to repackage the Dark Age in such a way that I can feel enthusiastic about it, but another time jump already? That disillusions me a bit.

The Capellans basically grit it out through the Jihad, Republic era, and then the Dark Ages- because they never really drank Stone's Kool-Aid to begin with. Realize that out of all the Houses, they're the only ones that actually attacked the Republic for annexing worlds, and chewed a respectable chunk out of them despite the weakened armies post-Jihad. And then rather than demilitarizing, they just kept production up and hid it away, rebuilding all the while.

The Davions were hobbled by a literal madman (Caleb). More sane leadership is coming, so odds are we'll see a more stable Davion front soon, but Liao will be digesting it's new additions and should be able to hold onto quite a nice chunk of planets.

I'm curious to see the future interior borders of the Confederation at the end of this conflict. It's my hope that the St. Ives and Chesterton commonalities will see some growth (especially after several key St. Ives Compact worlds were transferred to the Sian Commonality).

Still, it's nice to see them with their plot armor pants down for a while.
