Really? How many other games have made some so called 'stupid' choices over the years that got mixed reviews? All of them maybe?
Even the so called King of MMO's has done some stupid stuff. Death Knights for one, Kung Fu Panda for another and yet it'll still keep steam rolling along.
There is no guarantee that the Clans will be playable as a faction. Even if they don't offer the clans as playable people will still play the game because it's MechWarrior, it's BattleTech, and there's been NUMEROUS successful MW games that didn't have the clans as playable faction.
I know all the kewl kids want to play the bad guys and all, but that's what they are, antagonists and should be treated as such.
Keep spouting whatever it is you're spouting because I'm positive you'll be eating crow. They won't make the mistake of alienating 1/3 or even half of the player base who want to play Clans. You think they are going to pass up all the microtransaction opportunities and game change opportunities the Clans will bring? We'll play this game for a year and just when you think you've mastered it, BAM they switch up tactics and play be introducing the Clans. People get an influx of new playstyles, tech and mechs. More people join the game.
I think most people with congnitive maturity can answer that with a resounding, !NO! They won't pass up the opportunity.
They would or could be antatgonists if this were a single player game, but this is an online game. The players are the antagonists, but truly IS and Clans are equal on the antagonist front. No good guys in a barn full of butchers.
Keep waving that flag of yours around though. It's good excercise.
-Personally I would like to see Clan tech on IS mechs with item decay.
-I'm okay with people jumping ship because they will more than likely be outnumbered most, if not all matches above 3V3.
-Half the playerbase leaving to the Clans? Probably not. They will intice new players who do their research thinking they have an advantage, but I think they will be an advanced experience for the game.....and hell, more targets for my AC's.
-There are a lot of loyal House players and units that won't jump ship. Enough to keep the chain together and repopulate the clan exodus. It will be our own private Kerensky exodus and we'll have to deal that in our own way.
