I mean, come on: this is one mech that actually is integral to the coming plot.

Still roughing it out. Figured the hatchet would be integrated rather than something that was held in a hand.

From a "physics" point of view, the hand actuator is really just the wrist servos, (not actual manipulator fingers) so that you can get that nice arc speed on the blade end of the hatchet. The "fist" would just be for show (no matter what BS a novel might say. stupid holovid entertainment...)

Keep up the good work! We need melee!!

Actually many of the units had detachable weapons in the hand, which allowed the weapon to be dropped if destroyed, and gave the mech 2 working hands for various tasks. It also made replacing said weapon considerably easier, the the extra upkeep on the hand actuator might negate that value.

I was envisioning it as just being an "unmovable" weapon on your right arm with a range of 10m or so (or melee range, whatever that might be).

Hahahahahahaa - advantage of a hand would be that you could THROW the hatchet, I guess. :)

I think I'd rather an Axman, myself, though if the queues are anything like they were before I dropped off the face of the planet, being a Heavy rather than a Medium might complicate playing with it. CX

Of course, perhaps the favorite reason for Ax over Hatchet would be that I could poke fun at that (probably obscure) review on Newgrounds made six years ago now. :P
