In mechwarrior 3 if you were shot in the head, the glass would start breaking, I think this would be pretty cool to add.

Same thought here! MW3 had some avesome immersion features like the mentioned breaking glass. I also liked the collision system and sound effects from MW3. Would be great if something similar appears in MWO...
Which brings me to the question "Where did the original collision system of MWO went at all?" I found it an interesting "game changer" when even the striped-off mechs could still make a difference... I really miss this one... hope the developer guys put it back in the game... crossing fingers :P

I just looked at the poll, and I really messed up, going to fix.
Thanks for the feedback.

mech3 had a great engine for the time, deformable terrain, glass breaking, excellent weapon dynamics. sad that in 2013 most of this stuff is impossible.

It's not so much that it's impossible, it's just that a lot of people are still running old machines and games have to be designed for the lowest common tech level so as to be able to appeal to a wider audience. I'm sure eventually we will see all of these aesthetic designs.

I vote yes.

They don't actually use glass in this if I remember correctly, but devs have mentioned they plan on adding cockpit battle damage but it's cosmetic/low priority.

Glass cracks, sparks and smoke everywhere in the cockpit when you're at incredibly critical damage as well. Currently we just get those flashing red lights, more would certainly be epic!

they could do it in the old game because people were using the monitors with glass screens. It's impossible nowadays because most people are using plastic LCD screens.

Too bad, i want it too.

What, you never seen a cracked LCD screen before? (note that what you said makes no sense anyway because we're talking about the cockpit window here not a video screen)

I'd love to see sparks flying, wire's hanging down, flashing lights, cracked glass or bullet holes etc.

I'd much rather work on balance, gameplay, and the visuals of the world we stomp around in (advanced zoom) ect... first and this might wouldn't be such a bad thing later on.

At one point they actually had cockpit effects in the patch notes (or intended patch contents) for one week last year. They never got added though and haven't been mentioned much since then.

PGI has said they're looking in to it, but don't hold your breath. One assumes that more pressing issues have higher priority. Still, it'd be great for immersion if heat effects and cockpit/head damage both affected your view.

It was in the game shortly after it went open beta but the hit boxes were wonky, and certain mechs like the Dragon and Jenner could tackle a herd of Atlas'. They temporarily, took it out because people where abusing the !@#$ out of it. Worse than the Raven 3ls of March. If you read the Ask the Developers thoroughly, they reference collisions will be in the game either with Community warfare or shortly after.

Hope that helped.

Keep in mind this is a special kind of Glass that Shatters like Splintering Knives.
Also with the Future Cockpit Modules, advanced Life support system will keep your Pilot from suffocating in a toxic atmosphere.

Very sad indeed.

Better ECM, Balanced SSRM, Long Range powerful LB-X, 2x Better fire rate (not "double shells) UAC's (no roll dice jam), sweet flamers and Mg's

Ammunition Dumping
Aiming 90 Degrees (Advanced Shooting, side shooting)
Awesome Jump Jets
Falling over when running and getting hit by a huge weapon
Moveable PIP Zoom Aim

This, so much of this. I want to really feel like this machine I'm sitting in is really falling apart around me.
