I know many of us will be getting one of the Founders Packages, elite or veteran, and was wondering if we'd be able to buy them as gifts for other people. I have a few friends and family members I'd like the option of buying one of the packs for them to get started and interested in MW:O. Would also like to know when this promotion might end (I'm assuming the actual launch date, but it could be in july.)

Hoping PGI will answer this, but I'd also like to see if this kind of thing interests anyone else and how you'd feel about it.

If you feel like donating to the Moderator Founders Package Fund (MFPF) then by all means! I am sure we can find a way to make this happen.

Unfortunately a Dev would have to answer this as we mods don't have any more info than ya'll

I always give out gifts in games especially to guild members. I spend about £200 a year on credits for other players, sometimes about £50 for random players in a game. Any support in this area is welcomed.

1. Give appropriate amount of money to person.

2. Tell them to buy the Founder's Pack with it.

3. ????

4. PROFIT!

I like where your going with this idea...

Okay to be serious, not sure if I like the idea of a founders package as a gift, since I don't think being a Founder is a good way to intro new people to the franchise, but maybe an invite package, or a new members gift pack or something to fill this concept is a good idea.

*cough* If you feel like being generous.. I'm all here man, just sayin' ;)

In all seriousness: I think for many people the suprise is more fun if they log in and see a message "You have new gifts waiting for you!" than people asking their bankaccount number, being sent 30 / 60 bucks and having to buy the object themselves.

I have several friends who arent exactly Mechwarrior fans but that love PVP games that I'd like to bribe with vet packages...SO I would like to see this be giftable too.

But if we gift them the package and they play...they ARE founders and they're also new blood into the community/game. This is a good thing.

If they don't play for long, they at least tried it out AND helped support PGI. I know I've got a ton of friends I'd like to get veteran (a few elite) packs for and it'd be really nice if I could just buy one and have it sent to their account.

I play Rise of Flight, over there they have a pretty rich tradition of players gifting new planes and/or maps to other players.

The Devs even created award badges to recognize those guys who help out other players by gifting.

I think it would be a great idea for MWO, to make it easy to send gifts of stuff from the store.

If they tie the game code key to the e-mail buying it then you will not be able to give it away to a friend.

It would be nice if the code key was independent of the e-mail buying it. <<<< DEV's HINT ;)

I suggest the Devs make a visit to the Rise of Flight forums to get a feel for what happens with a tight knit community that has an easy system provided to gift game content to other players.

Devs are welcome to contact me via e-mail or PM for more details if they would like.

As its free to play might be best to see if they interested firstly.

Any free-to-play game really ought to have a method for gifting stuff. I'd like the option to gift even the founders packs to friends of mine through a secure system. Sending cash, or using paypal isn't.

It really shouldn't be hard for them to set this kind of thing up. That's not really the issue, if they want to do it I'm sure they have no problem actually working it into the game, it's if they feel they want to do it. I think it's a great idea and really helps support the F2P aspect and friendships in the community. Add other things down the line that can be purchased as a gift to other Mechwarriors and it could be a great way for them to generate extra revenue while still providing us ways to enjoy the game by helping others.

Anything that the game sells needs to be giftable. Founders Pack and beyond. A lot of Free-to-Play games overlook the simple fact that people will buy content for friends and family.

Yea, I think this kind of thing could be huge for PGI and the community both. It's a great idea because it still avoids making MW:O into pay to win, all we'd be doing is helping people get started.

Other packs like this or items being a gift would be great, I hope they really think about it and do it.

I also reckon that this could be a great move. I'm fairly sure that it wouldn't be hard to make people enter an email address as part of the purchasing process.
