MW:DA had battlemechs, it was fully licensed, the universe was canon, and WizKids was founded by the same person who ran FASA. It was completely CBT Light, and that was exactly what I wanted. Not to get too much further off topic, but in the end it was a collectible game, and had all the pitfalls that entail such things. Still, it was fun while it lasted

Played a long time ago as a kid. Still have the original box series, books, figurines, etc. Would teach my kids to play if their generation wasn't so tv, console, tablet and pc oriented. Sad that few table top games of any kind can hold a kid's attention these days.

Started playing in '88. Looking forward to Mechwarrior: Tactics for that very reason. Broke out the old miniatures and took my son to school on that recently.

There's still nothing more fun than to roll double sixes on the damage chart on an Atlas from a Hunchback firing it's AC20...

Played it since ... holy cow dung! ... decades.

Something like 20+ years now. CBT, RPG and both mixed together. And I still love it.

Of course... and I am doing my best to get the next generation of future mechwarriors to do the same. :)

i did. back in the 90's. i preferred a marauder-variant with the gauss rifle and believe it or not: the gauss was witched or sth. cause back then i rolled an unholy large amount of 12s for the hit location. y'all know what that means ;)

Gauss Rifle to the Head = Bad @#$%ing Day ™

That is why I loved the Edge rules when they came out. I usually had a good laugh when I died, in most any game, but it sometimes got frustrating how easy it was to die despite being surrounded by 100 tons of shiny, metal death.

played it 20 jears ago.
its the only game my mother EVER owned me! shot me out of my warhammer via critical with a HELICOPTER armed with TWO mgs - with the FIRST shot! rolled 1+1,6+6,6+6 resulting in epicly owning me - she is still laughing today about this when the theme comes to TT games...

I have played Battletech, Battleforce, Battlespace, Mechwarrior (RPG), Succession Wars, (Board Game) on and off for the 22 years.

My favorite part of the timeline is the 4th Succession War through the Fall of the Clans, about 3025 - 3065. I was very excited when i saw that this game started just prior to the era of the clan invasion of the Inner Sphere in 3049.

Great tactical board game with minis that does not require you to paint hundreds of them to be competitive which is what I loved about it in my younger years.

I've played BT, the pen and paper version if that is what you mean by board game. Started playing it within a year of it coming out, was a big time D&D player before then. I more than likely will be one of the oldest players in the game ...lol

No there's a poll....who the oldest player in the game is gonna be. Bet I'm in the top 1% as far as age goes...

played Battletech since before the clans were even a concept,
played Mechwarrior the RPG,
ran a campaign at WSGS games club that had a regular 15-20 people playing through the middle to late 90's,
ran several Battletech competitions throughout that same time.

LOVED IT ALL....

Played it, and would still if I knew anyone in the area.

Me too. I had try to convince some of my friends to play with me without success.

I played a lot with my brother in 90's.
