Here are the 4 designs I would go with:

Light: RVN-3L Raven
Medium: ASN-21 Assassin
Heavy: CPLT-C1 Catapult
Assault: BNC-3S Banshee - if available, I'd go with the BNC-5S which is upgraded with Star League tech.

Light: Wolfhound
Medium: Steiner Griffin Variant GRF-1S
Heavy: Davion Warhammer Variant WHM-6D
Assault: Marauder II

I like energy weapons, in case you haven't guessed.

TBH I'm not in love with many of the pre-clan invasion mechs. IS post invasion mechs got alot better with the Owens, Bushy, Avatar, and Sunder woul probably have been my choices.

Pre invasion...hrrmm...

Raven
Hollander
Warhammer

Some have suggested that the four preview Mechs we've seen are the stock 'Mechs of each weight class for the Draconis Combine.

I have to wonder what four Mechs, one from each weight class, would players choose for their faction?

Jenner 7D (a quartet of Medium lasers is nothing to sneeze at)
Hatchetman 3F (looks good to me asthetically. I can make it work in combat though)
Warhammer 6L (because everyone hates burns)
Marauder II 4F (No ammo explosion worries and a decent amount of sheer killing power)

Before I can pick, I have to ask what you mean by "3025-3050." Do you mean they could only have been manufactured in that time frame, or were still in service in that time frame? One is incredibly limiting, the other is not. Please clarify.

lights: Locust (as a light mech, you have not much armor, and with 1 lrm you have good chances to stay out of range)
medium: BlackJack 1DC.. (2x ac2 + more medium laser as the normal BlackJack)
heavy: Marauder 3R
Assault: Awesome

This is hard.

Light - Jenner. Loved it back in MW2: Mercs. Fast and hard hitting, my favorite light mech. This choice was easy.

Medium - Dervish. I'm going with a fire support mech in this slot because recon is covered and I'm going to take a Grasshopper over a Catapult in the heavy category.

Heavy - Grasshopper. One of my favorite "low-tech" infighters. Good speed, jump capable, runs cool, has a lot of firepower close in and has a few weapon systems to tag an enemy at a distance.

Assault - Zeus. I always used the Zeus standup from the box set as my commander. And the Maximum Tech cover art Zeus rocks. This is a choice for looks and iconic-ness. I would probably take a Catapult in this slot if I wasn't conforming to the "LMHA" stable.

hmm, i'll have to give myself some options here:

LIGHT: Commando CMD-2D/Raven RVN-2X
MEDIUM: Hunchback HBK-4H/Kintaro KTO-20
HEAVY: Orion ON2-M/Archer ARC-4M
ASSAULT: Victor VTR-9K/Devastator DVS-2/Battlemaster BLR-3M

Now for mechs that i would like to use after this:

LIGHT: Gurkha GUR-2G
MEDIUM: Lineholder LH-2
HEAVY: Avatar AV1-0
ASSAULT: Seraph C-SRP-0

  • TLN-5W Talon
  • WFT-1 Wolf Trap
  • Axman AXM-1N (damn thing still lacks an AMS though)
I'll pass on the assault class, never particularily cared for those, prolly never will.
