Two great additions that are iconic in the battle tech universe. Opinions?

Yes, yes they are. They'll surely show up once the clans arrive.

Absolutley NO! I want to see only the important Clan mechs included into MWO, like the Tresher, Incubus or Woodsman!

Might be tough to balance gamewise. In the larger scale of things, yes, their very high c-bill cost for purchase, and how much repairs will run will balance them out, but the fact is that the Mad Cat and Vulture are still going to be quite stronger than the other mechs announced so far. (stock vulture and Mad cat both have better fire support capabilities than the Catapult, and have a lot better other weapons to boot)

As long as the Supernova isn't put in, I'll be happy :)

I say the the devs should alter slighty from cannon and that the clans should never show up.

Seriously,

I'm sure in time, everyone's favorite mech will eventually find thier way in., yes even the clan ones. Then again with everyone pining over clan crap why not just make this game 3052 and have clan crap everywhere.

I like the Vulture its one of my favorite Mechs. I didnt realize it was clan though, but disregarding the armament it has a cool professional look to it. But OP, they will be out in the Clan Invasion (about one year from now real time)

Just think about how much sweeter the victory is when you're standing over a Maddog that you beat in a fair (kinda) fight with your centurion. There are all kinds of ways they can balance it once the clans are introduced.

It's easy to tell who was first introduced to Battletech or to the extent of their experience playing Battletech games based on their fav mechs... and what they called them... saying the Timber Wolf and the Mad Dog is your fav mech isn't something facepalm worthy by a long shot I can tell you right now. I mostly blame their popularity on the significant amount of heavy advertising and their use as poster boys when FASA introduced the clans in the table top game and how they were later again used as poster boys in Mechwarrior 2 and the IS version of the Vulture in MW4 *shivers*.

With that said, it isn't as bad as some of the jihad and post jihad mechs... or some of the late 3050s monstrosities the Inner Sphere cooked up. Regardless, as mechs they are real monsters. Though they aren't the toughest to balance or most overpowered Heavies by a long shot anyway...

I do admit, I have a soft spot for the Mad Dog myself.

Actually the Invasion starts this year, with a few small skirmishes, it full takes off next year. 3049 is the start of the invasion.

Wow, I remember playing those mech in some 2D MS DOS game back in the early 90's, every time I see either one of those models it calls up memories of running through a maze hoping to get the first shot on the other mech. I cant remember the name of that game, does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

Thanks :D

Yeah, that was back when you could be crushed to death under a falling monitor, had no mouse, and a metal keyboard that was made in America

Definitely a fan of Clan 'mechs, but I'm looking forward to the game following the history and introducing them when and how they should be: as war machines that are just going to kill all of us in our poor Inner Sphere jalopies.

Related question though: when the Clans come, should they become playable factions? I feel like that would upset game balance considerably, but then, depending on how the game plays, there may be other ways to limit Clanners to even out the experience. Either way, given time, I suppose salvage will do the job for us.

He's a lumberjack and he's okay...
He sleeps all night and he works all day!

Personally, I look forward to the Hellbringer. Always liked the Warhammer-style 'Mechs.

After playing MW3 and MW4 there is no question that the Daishi (DireWolf) will forever be my favorite clan mech.
