Sup Mech Pilots! :D Let's see, does anyone remember back in the early 90's a spectacular film which was released featuring 100ft type Mechs named "Robot Jox"? :D This film also featured a somehow rare Mech which looked spider like with 8 legs and with jump jet ability. The only difference in the pilot controls was that instead of like we do in the cockpit of our mechs, sit down on a seat with Joystick and airplane style controls, this film featured the pilot wearing a special type of Neurohelmet and also holding two control handels in both hands while standing on a special platform and being held tight by a strong iron belt from his waist. The pilot entered a sort of environment which made him feel HE is the robot himself. When he moves his hands, the robot mech does so, and to walk, he starts doing a walking type action with his feet on this special platform he stood on. Well, the pilot controlled the robot using his whole body and was also able to feel what the robot was feeling, a sort of "virtual reality", i.e what the pilot does, the robot does also. :D

If the pilot was to show the middle finger to his opponent, the robot will do that too lol so real!!! hehe Also speech was enabled as the helmet had a built in mic and when the pilot speaks, the robot also says the same words and it will be heard loud from outside especially from the opponent's cockpit hehe :D Was really a cool film!

This was one of the greatest movies of all time.

Erratic Cheese used some footage of it in his depiction of Hotshot, in the thread regarding Battletech Nudity in the Jettisoned Comms forum.

Heh, so many errors in that movie. I will never forget this line with how cheesy it sounds in the Russian accent:

"I have already keeled you, rieght heeare."

I loved that movie. I thought it was the greatest thing. Only later in life did I learn that I was one of 23 who actually saw it :(

I waited for the movie at the video store for a while and wasn't let down. As cheesy as it was Paul Koslo was a good bad guy in the film. Gary Graham was good as well.

Check out these as well:

Gunhed ( Japanese made, close rival to Robot Jox )

Robot Wars (yeah not as good)

Crash N Burn.

The PGI Devs have confirmed that everything seen in this ultimate final battle will in fact be included in MWO.

I watched that several times as a kid, rented from my local video store :) Haven't seen it in years, though, and I think I will avoid it so I don't destroy the nostalgia. For the same reason, I recommend avoiding the first few episodes of the original Transformers series (or the whole thing, depending on how good you remember it being as a kid).

Wow if we had to see an 8-legged Mech! :D That black one was epic i never saw such type of Mechs. I guess would be challenging to control with those 8 legs hehe. He had great mechanism movement though. This was the second enemy robot Alexander got out with after a regular black one in the first fight that shot a rocket powered fist to the white Mech that made it fall with a crash on all those spectators watching (was the sadest part of the film) :D

Anyone watch the sequel?

Giant scorpion 'bot vs old school humanoid tech...aw yeah.

Edit: at least I thought it was a sequel, after a quick google search it may be something else? eh *shrug*

how much would modern FX lend themselves to a Mechwarrior film and spin off TV series.

Doesn't "late" mean recent?
