Would love to see a quad of that era in there (Scorp or Goliath).
BattleMaster in command mode (Love to have a Co-pilot.)

light: probably the Razorback or the panther depending on how jump jets are done
medium: Starslayer, i really love the design, one of the best all around mediums with no heat curve issues. Barring that one i'd probably go for the crab even if it lacks jumpjets
heavy: Flashman. definitive winner. good mobility even if it lacks jumpjets, very good over all armour front and rear. I like to go to the thick of it with heavies so rear armour is an issue. but in general this design is severely under valued. with energy weapons only it won't be running out of ammo either.
assault: no thanks

Since playing the MekTek version of MW4, I've been having a blast back-handing 100-tonners with my Marauder... which is strange, as I usually prefer faster machines in general.
Mediums, I'll go for the Dragon (already on display) or, and not sure about the era, but the Uziel was a nice little worker.
Lights - Jenner
I am probably the only MechWarrior/Battletech fan who utterly hates piloting assault mechs... I mean really? What use is all that armor and dakka when you sort of have to stand there like a gimp and get paddled by a lance of mediums while your lumbering mech sort of saunters about casually?
Yes, I know there are faster ones - but the Clans made most of those and they're not relevant until the Clan actually arrive.
And no, save for the Masakari/WarHawk, I still couldn't be bothered.

My favourites would still hover around the gold ol' Warhammer or an Axman (if there were hatchets in the game
Although, I'd be curious to see the Barghest as a command unit when they implement the four legged mechs, it could be an interesting mech to be in.

I'm afraid the Dragon is going to have to share the spotlight with your Marauder, since they're both Heavy 'mechs.
As an enthusiast of the Dragon, I couldn't help but point that out.
However, I also dislike piloting assaults (well, except that) with a passion.
I find it difficult/ineffective to banzai charge the enemy in a lumbering hulk of a 'mech.

Thunderhawk, Fafnir (Heavy Gauss X 2 makes me smile), and the King Crab KGC-000 (2 AC/20s) are good Assault Mech choices. I think the chicken and the Faf are both post-era though
But, I will always love driving my Thug in all the variants I made in table top lol. Even just running the THG-12 variant is a pretty nasty mid-range with 2 PPCs and 2 SRM-6s. But fit it with Mediums and a pair of LB/X-10's and you have a lethal knife-fighter. If you can't tell I'm really hoping for decent modding system in game.
