Founders skin instead of mech?

Poll: Founders skin instead of mech? (125 member(s) have cast votes)

So which would you rather have? The mech or skin?

  1. I like the skin as it could show I gave my support early no matter what mech I use. (30 votes [24.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 24.00%

  2. The mech. I don't care about skins and/or would rather have the bonus earnings. (95 votes [76.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 76.00%

First off yes, I like polls. Moving on.

I myself would much, much rather have a skin/camo that MWO promised would apply to every mech they release then a single mech from a selection I may not even really like all that much.

I mean if the skin/camo was unique to founders pack only and could be used on whatever mech you like at any time in the future? That would make me feel a LOT better about spending the 60$ before I even know if I like the game or not. Course I'm going to spend it anyway. Because it's mechwarrior... And looks awesome.

But still. I'd rather have a universal skin/camo. Just something widely appealing that would stand out in the future to say.. Well "In before release!". Let me show my pride in recognizing the game would be great from the get go.

What do you all think? If you don't care to post at least leave a vote, eh?

P.S. I know this isn't likely. Just curious if Im the only one wishing this.

Hmm. Closer then I expected. Thought it would go flat one way or the other. And as no one wants to actually have a conversation about it.. I'll talk to myself!!!

My first thoughs about the idea are a fairly simple pattern, possibly camo style or simpler pattern. And just to keep it interesting have it add scuffs, craps, and maybe old battle wounds to the mech. Just to give it that veteran look.

I'm not going to just vote, and say why not.

The game looks amazing, and I've loved the battletech universe ever since the first time I played Mechwarrior 2 on the PlayStation when I was 7 or 8. That being said, I would much rather have something that is beneficial to me game play wise. Even a mech I don't particularly care for that gets and XP and money income boost is better than a camo I'll only ever see in the Mech Lab. I can always change my play style up to match the mech, I will not always see a fancy paint job.

For the asking price I would rather have something functional to use (The Mech) than something cosmetic (the skin) but that is just me. Besides arent the founders mechs unique in appearance anyway ?

I thought that the founder mechs already had their own colorations that set them apart from the others, at least thats what the concept art shows

Hey guys, been lurking around here for a while.

Voted for the skin because I am not all that fond of the founders mech choices. Assuming that the four shown will be our final options. Anyways looking forward to the game and will be purchasing the founders pack regardless.

Gamer = Mech > Skin

Ego = Skin > Mech

I voted for the 'Mech. They already are giving us a Founders' Tag to show we bought a Founder's Pack and gave our support.

Plus, my 'Mech will always be either a camo scheme appropriate for the theater of operations or my unit's colors.

I wouldn't mind the paint scheme to use later, but I'd be slow to pay $60 just for the paint scheme. I like the extra C-bills/EXP thing they have going. And since I'm already with a group, I'll likely work to make my camo resemble the Skye Rangers as much as possible (here's hoping we have a lot of leeway with paint schemes, rather than an "all-over" thing), so being able to continue using the Founder's paint job in later 'Mechs won't really be used.

That being said, I still voted for the appearance, because I like the idea of being able to show your early support for the game even after you've begun piloting different 'Mechs.

To each their own. Way I see it I can get mechs. And the founders mech is going to function just like every other mech of its type. So Id rather have a skin that I can use on multiple mechs.

That and the extremely limited info they are bothering to share with us, I mean specific and detailed info, has me worried we will be stuck with one variant of the four mechs they showed with the original announcement. And I dont want any of those for my first mech.

While the skin idea is cool, the title will show our support so I would rather have the bonuses from the mech. Which is odd, considering I LOVE cool skins.

I can see your point Neo. It's just that in the middle of battle they probably wont see your founders tag at a glance. The skin? That they would see.

That is a good point, I didn't really think about that. Maybe I was blinded by the C-bills? XD

Well why not get both? I mean I don't think it would be too much to ask and then it would be a win win situation for all :D

Russ Bullock said they'll be announcing specifics on the Elite Founder's Pack 'Mechs soon.

EDIT: URL tag fix

Sample size too small to determine whether results are statistically significant. On top of this response bias (which stipulates that those with stronger opinions are more likely to vote than those who could care less or those who are unaware of the poll) for excellent examples of response bias check out any FOX news poll. Need more vote to crunch numbers!

Well it sort of would be. Because for the minimum to make it worth it to use they would need the skin to at least cover the first 12 mechs we've been informed of. And I would really rather have a guarantee that it would work on all mechs released in the future. And while maybe not staggering it is a promise of continued support for a founders pack items. It would be a little greedy to ask for both.

THen again it's not really likely to happen. Just speculation. And looking at the votes so far it's probably for the best. Seems more people like their free mech.

If the skin gets me extra xp or cbills, and can be transferred from mech to mech (but only equipped on 1 mech at a time), it would be really good.

True but this is just speculation for fun so I am using what I have to work with.
