So as in any game where you have different groups there will always be bad blood even more so since I assume most of my fellow mechwarriors have played many other games and at least read one book so how do you handle this hate going out of your way to kill members of that house not teaming up with mercenaries that work with that house or just name calling and bragging random hate mongering

Friendly banter and RP'ing. You will always shoot the ones you should hate, so...

As for the mercs, though, I have no idea how will that turn out.

I spare the word "hate" for something important.

There's no hate, just friendly competition.

Hate is a strong word. That being said, so long as I'm being paid well enough all is good. ;)

I am not even sure I understand what you are talking about...might need more coffee here or something. Why in a world would I actually hate other people just for thier choice of a house/clan? I mean, I certainly can RP a dislike of IS folks (surats all), but you seem to be taking it to a whole another level.

I'm pretty sure that's just what he meant. How are you going to RP it ? Will said RP have influence on how you actually play your matches or the way you choose the planets you fight on, or something like this ?

I for example will try to not shoot Steiners for some time, because we're allies right now. As soon as Katherine pulls off her little nationalist PR stunt though, they're all toast :)

I am an open-minded member of the Federated Suns. I count everyone equal and do not hate any one, maybe except for those Capellan Scum, these murdereous Drac-Snakes, those would-be allies from the Commonwealth or those simpletons from the so-called free worlds league, let alone those all the time drunk vikings from that upstart realm between the Comomwealth and the Combine.

It will only affect RPers, who will be the vast minority.

I'm leader of a Merc Corp. We're supposed to have real good relations with House Liao. Thing is, it's all about the C-Bills. And if people from House Davion or Steiner or whatever are offering more moola for my services, then guess who the contract is signed with? :)

Different houses are no different than games with a traditional Red Team and Blue Team (there's just more teams). One side fights for its colors, and you start hating people base don what colors they fly. My loyalty is based on whomever values my track record more.

I'm sure they game won't allow a Merc to sabotage a team, in that I can play on the enemy side but FOR the other team, because it would just see that as acts of friendly fire, to which the game would punish me for. Instead, I'll just lend my skills to the highest bidder and let the houses war over territorial control.

Different people will play in different ways. While Aegis Kleais plans to play as a full blown merc pilot who's only loyalities are to his company and the all mighty C-Bill, I plan to play another way. Given the track record of some of the Inner Sphere houses, I would more then likely take contracts from FedCom then anyone else. But if there is a contract that would allow me to make some C-Bills and not directly impact my normal cash cow, I would take it. ie FRR invading CC for some border worlds.

PGI might implement some kind of "If 2 houses hate each other and 1 side sees that you have done more contracts for their opposing house, they may offer many less contracts, or the contracts may be for significantly less"

It would be a way to emulate the houses disapproval of whom I side with. Hopefully, if they do this, they also have houses understand that "To mercs, it's just about getting paid", and are less apt to lower the quantity or quality of contracts and instead, offer more money in order to help get such a nuisance resources to work for their will.

By carefully dropping crosshairs on the target and pulling the trigger ;)

I doubt that - there are only so many weapons one can tie into a single TIC. ;)

I don't know for sure how meta game is going to work yet, but you might only be able to drop against your in-universe enemies, at least in battles that count. In other words, somebody affiliated with FS might not be able to participate in a Marik-Liao fight. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

lol, I saw someone say that the rpers would be a minority.. Maybe not so much in this game... or at least the people already here. I think most of us are at least "light" rpers (For example, I'm looking forward to killing Snakes and Cappies :D )

Just generally an RP thing but I think those that do know lore/history might get a little push in their head to crush an enemy if they know their house has a history with the enemy.

I'm more worried how factions that like each other will be done. Considering the time frame I'd find it odd for Davion and Steiner forces fighting each other.

LOL, and who won that war anyway?
Unless they do timeskips, we arent going to be able to play the FedCom civil war.. which is kinda a bummer. Say what you will about the characters involved, the SETTING itself is pretty cool

I hate them with a pure simple heart and the best intentions.
I allow myself to hate them out of pity. For they are not worth of my hate.
I try and have mercy by killing them with extreme hatred and prejudice.
I expect no love for I don't hate just for hating.

I am all for some RP out of game on forums and such.... but in game peope have to focus and concentrate on the Atlas strafin to your left.... not on what house someone is in. In game = LESS RP MORE KILLING!
