I'm not a troll in the least. I don't like ableism. I don't care who's doing it, it's rude. Also, diagnosing oneself as having Asperger's as an excuse for being insufferable is worthy of scorn. It is frankly insulting to the folks who DO suffer from the various forms of Autism.
Yeah, see my edit above - I was operating on the assumption that you're a Goon but that may be incorrect.

The moderators are going to issue martial law here soon to control this problem.

Metro is a completely different person if that twitches you. Just ask anyone who played any of the previous games if I made Metro up just to shut down your threads.

No, I am in no way affiliated with the Goons. Though the ones here seem pretty solid when not being poked with sticks.

Yeah, never mind. I basically ended up trolling myself while attempting to deflate what I thought was a troll. I also don't generally have problems with the Goons (I do have an SA account and have been posting in the MWO thread there, after all), but the "sperg" meme gets to me a bit. I thought I saw an opportunity to take a stab at it, but instead it turns out that I'm an *****. OH WELL.

Well it's more a combat vehicle simulator sort of affair to be fair. Also I think this is still imaginary, I mean I don't watch the news as much as I should at uni but I reckon I'd of noticed.
But that wasn't my point, he may of well chosen Liao hoping for discounts on Ravens and electronic gismos, or just likes green. I originally chose Davion just for Autocannons and a cool logo, and abit of parts being based around the UK, but decided to hold my horses when the serious RPers were posting in the other goon thread among other threads about Davions being so saintly and just, when they have just as many flaws as everyone else (which actually was why I liked them).
I can't speak for the OP obviously, but I'm just gonna wait till launch and see what takes my fancy.
I can, fortunately, speak for the OP.
I did, in fact, pick the CC for RP reasons. I do, in fact, RP. Twice a week via the internet during MegaMek campaigns i play with people who I'd call friends if i had any.
My point is, while pen-and-paper Mechwarrior is a RP game, i don't really see this one as such. As you stated it's more of a combat-vehicle simulator. I don't plan on playing it "in character", as that would detract from the enjoyment i get from running around blowing things up.
Typing out comments about faction politics makes it difficult to line up head shots.
If you want to have some sort of RP chat room in the lobby between games, that's cool. I might stop in from time to time, but if you expect me to pay attention to anything RP related while i'm playing, your going to be disappointed.

And seriously, if people would stop poking them, you wouldn't end up getting into stuff like this.
It's like watching my two puppies fight when one of them accidentally jumps on the other. No reason, no real damage gets done, just a lot of noise. And then they go take a nap. Quit bellyaching and go play instead. Maybe take a nap. Here, have some puppies.

Yeah, RP is best carried out in an appropriate venue. The public, official forums for a wide-audience action game is probably not a great place to attempt it. It'd kind of be like LARPing in the food court of your local shopping mall. Yes, you can do it, but don't be surprised if someone starts flicking pizza rolls at you. Maybe your friend's basement or the local sci-fi convention would be a better bet.

Everyone is acting like Something Awful goons are going to kick over everyone's sandcastle at the playground. They're a bunch of gaming enthusiasts from a forum on a humor website, nothing more. Yes, they screwed people over in EVE online, but that's not even their real claim to fame, their claim to fame is being a community on the internet that sometimes produces neat things. Living in fear of THE GOONSWARM is like saying "Oh my god, 4chan is coming! Hide your kids! The game will be RUINED by people from a certain online community playing the game!"
The game is not going to be ruined just by a few more people playing the game, this game is not EVE online and you have no reason to fear a swarm approach since that sort of tactics doesn't even apply here, hell if anything you have more to fear from the massive amount of russians that will be playing the game than the Something Awful goons. Just calm your jimmies and move on, because seriously, this is not a subject that warrants MULTIPLE THREADS.
