I believe that the purpose of this little external website is not to establish authority over anyone; it is to simply give "free-agent" players a place to find some people to drop and fight with. The purpose is not to establish leadership of house marik, but to give fighters for house marik a place to organize. Correct me if I am wrong, tightrope?

Thats Kool , just wanted my feelings known . And i have no problems joining a website or whatever as long as we as a group agree .

As an admin of that site I want to make it crystal clear that we are not claiming authority over House Marik. If MPBT wants to do that, by all means they are welcome. In fact, they are welcome to do that on the site. Me, vulp, and Logical are basically just making a rally point. Hell, neither of us even claim "authority" over the site. Bring your old lance mates and command elements with you to the site and I'll admin them as necessary.

Its also worth noting that if the site gets big enough and begins to outgrow its potential, I can make us a "real" website. Financially, I'm unwilling to do that until we find out how much participation the site will see.

Basically what I'm saying is just because there's an old school and a new school doesn't mean we can't work together to make House Marik great.

I'd like to give a <S> to all those that are making these kind of unofficial House sites. These kind of sites will create new friendship and solidify a bond between players. Hope more come out!

Dont see how having more than one House Marik Website would serve in the best interests of the house as a whole , Id more like us to VOTE

on said websites once they are up and running as our main base of action , i for one dont like having to WASTE my time trying to find a topic

that is number 1000 in treads on 4 or 5 different websites .. Make them and we vote on one . Just because you run a website for the house

doesnt mean you run the house as we all should know . That being said i like what i seen so far on the faction home page they have made

for House Marik. Very nicely done . AND i know we all have the best interest of house Marik in mind , so no matter what this is a good thing

When we do wars , and we will we really need one place that maybe all factions of house Marik hook too , if we have 100 different groups calling themselves house marik so be it , but lets have one place they all join too then , No lone wolf House Marik units . Just my thoughts

When the game comes out I suspect by that time the House will have an area to organize and coordinate for said wars. But until then we need to get to know each other. Like it has been said, these sites in no way are claiming to be the House's officials sites.

Btw, we still do not know what "mechwarrior online" has planned. Is there going to be a live map with supply lines, Military ranks or fully controlled player leaderships? That has not been fully answered yet. For all we know the houses will be run by administrator playing the roles of fictional charaters like Thomas Marik and so on.

To attempt to quash these sites would make it more difficult for folks to get to know each other and by getting to know each other they form bonds. And what is a military base without bonds? Easy prey.

So I say again, keep forming alliances and friendships through these sites, it will only strengthen our house in the long run.

From what I can tell from the dev blogs and such is that there isn't going to be a player that will be house leader. It will be run by the devs if anything. They will have a ranking system for each house but it will have no real command value set to it. It's just a way of recognizing those that have put in the time and effort into the game to achieve that status. I read somewhere that possibly at a certain rank we will be able to choose to join certain "elite?" house units and that also, at some point, they possibly will allow higher ranks to have some say in what planets will be attacked. Although this last part I am uncertain about.

Anyway, kudos for putting a site together to help ppl get to know each other a little better! Hopefully PGI will have at least some kind of dedicated forums based on game affiliation, we'll be able to tell in another month or so

For those that know me, they know where my loyalties lie, for those that do not, may name is Ito and I have been around a while.

I hope that one day they (the Devs) will trust us to run the game as we did in EGA, but I do not see it happening in the near future. So, I believe we, as a House need to get to know each other and start fresh and start building friendships.

Many leagues will be joining up here and many former leaders will be here also, I just hope our community can handle a world with no player leader that is elected by the player base. I for one think it will be a good move and a very refreshing one.

I do believe that many egos maybe hurt, but hell, you can not make an outstanding omlet without cracking a few hundred egos along the way.

Personal opinion, egos should have no weight when it comes to the future of the house, our House.

Marik, the Free Worlds League is far more important than any member who may feel he or she should lead.

All that truelly matters is that we play together and be part of a community.

But hell, those are my two cents, you may think differently and that is your choice.

In mpbt half my people became Dev in game helpers as did alot of not all of KnT guys if i remember right ,So if their are numbers

they will need helpers , Most if not all Former leaders have been and should still be the best at that . So if the DEVs really want a game

that will grow and become what it can become , they SHOULD use the players , pilots that have shown they have what it takes and

will give everything they have .That being said im not one of them people .. I would have a hard time taking orders from a DEV to be honest

as they WORK for me really as i AM a customer and they would have to EARN their leadership over me . Guys Like Merlin , nitehawk and

that St guy i wont have a problem with or guys like Ito Ogami , logicaltightrope , these people should be used before any DEV ......

And they wondered why they call me Firestorm

To those who would organize the house. The OP has the right idea, but please understand...

The devs are well aware of the history, personalities and pitfalls of past incarnations of MPBT.
This verison may evolve into something similar to MPBT, but it won't be in the forseeable future.
There will be 10s of thousands of players joining this game upon release and no way to organize them into a cohesive fighting force, and, most importantly, there will be no need to do so.
Focus on your cohesive fighting force (company/lance).
No matter the player balance, no faction is going to shut down another in this game. It's just a company vs company game, limited to border planets (like BT Lore for the most part), no homeworld take overs.
Until the devs specifically tell us otherwise (which they did in previous incarnations), any plan grander than organizing your company is a wasted effort.
Just to make it perfectly clear, if the devs wanted house organizers, they would have already selected them, and oraginization would be well underway. That hasn't happened, and it will not happen and this is why the only MPBTers who have had this kind of experience with the previous dev team are not here, or they are not organizing the house at this time.

This is not an official statement, just my opinion.

This debate is already a moot point in my honest opinion. Our enjin faction site isn't about organizing the faction itself in a leadership or structural manner.

Its more about organizing a community if anything.

Also, as others have said. Its pretty much guaranteed at this point that the game will organize the in-game faction for the most part. The rest quite frankly is just RP, and as an admin of the enjin site I'm not staking a claim to Marik command. Compared to most people here I'm barely out of AMI.

@Firestorm, thanks for the compliment on how the enjin site looks, but believe me... I haven't even started yet - school got in the way this weekend >.>

I believe this is the spirit in which we should build this house. Respect each other and support those who do the work.

If we start off by arguing over the which, what, and where after somebody has started, this house will emulate House Marik from the novels and history books published by FASA. Broken into factions and weakened by in-fighting.

Well said Amlaf. I do believe we have a good core Mechwarriors both old and new. I do look forward to the excellent opporunity that Piranha Games is providing for fans of Battletech and MechWarrior. I have hooked up some old mates as well as making new ones. We are all here to enjoy this great universe.
