We all know that most online games have problems on launch (just look at Diablo 3) so what problems do you reckon will happen?
I hope and pray that we have none but I can see one which is on Tuesday with everyone buying the founders pack (me included :D) and all us EU players having to play on NA servers maybe the load on the servers (due to our pings etc) break the servers.
Like I said I hope everything goes real smooth but I got a bad feeling :(

Oh and Iam not tech savvy so I do not know if a lot of EU players coming over to the NA servers will break the server, Iam just guessing.

Did they say people get instant access to beta once they buy the pack? I thought the access date was in July, the pack can be just bought earlier?

I'm guessing the fact that many people will be able to start on 17th July and the rest has to wait for another date will make the game launch a bit smoother, since not all of the people whi bought the Founders Pack will feel the need to log in on the official launch.

But what would make it even more smoother would be regional servers...;)

Hopefully the founders packs will ease first day issues a little. People who paid will have already played for a bit and will just avoid the game for a couple days.

That being said, I don't have a big issue with the first day launch issues most online games have. To gear up (in server terms) to try and have a perfect launch day is prob a waest of resources. Sure there is a bit of a reputation hit, but most rational people are forgiving and understand that launch day is a busy time. I'd much rather they focus on long term stability.

I can agree with this. You don't allocate resources for the highest possible load ever, but something closer the highest likely average load.

as with any new program or ga,e there will always bee a few bugs that got missed or the atticipated response may be bigger and cause a lag or temp shutdown due to overuse. expect a few slowdowns or brownouts in the first couple of days. the devs may even need to shut down the servers to adjust bandwith or such so just be prepaired but dont get to hostile its all in the birthing process

Hopefully there are 'stress tests', but the first day fo open beta will probably be rough.

Hopefully they will get enough data from the closed beta to make a very good estimate of how much laod there will be when the open beta starts, and batten down the hatches appropriately.

If they let people download the client early that would be less strain on launch day of open beta

I say keep in mind this will be a f2p game so they're probably not going to have everything they want in game day 1.

Oh don't get me wrong, I've got plenty of faith in the devs. Just setting myself up for the realist possibility just so I won't feel disappointed if it happens, but will feel over joyed if i'm wrong :D
