RAAAAAAAAAAAAWWRR ******* LESS THAN 100 DAMAGE AGAIN? RAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWRRR

(I understand it's a fast brawler but lack of armor is really, really hard to get used to.)

On a totally unrelated note, the ZMAP treatment Emory University developed to strengthen your immune system against the Zaire Ebola Virus has helped Kent Brantly recover from the virus!

http://news.yahoo.co...-100148319.html

I really hope they took the appropriate post-treatment quarantine method (take him off the treatment when he looks ok, keep him in isolation for the incubation period, if he is still ok then release him). Then again, these guys wouldn't be doctors if they didn't think of that. I hope.

Who would have ever though the mighty Ebola could be felled by a Tobacco Mouse Hybrid?

Me. Also, Kent did have a blood transfusion with a boy who survived the (Z)EBOV. Which probably helped a lot.

Truly a miracle of God's creation. Tobacco and rodents can beat off a virus that has a >50% death rate. Who'd have thought?

Actually, I thought when I read about it for the first time (when it was first administered). I thought it would work. I didn't think of anti-bodies, mice, viruses, atoms, or numbers. That is something beyond humans.

Its easy to underestimate our reach, but these limitations are false prisons of veiled understanding.

I'm still hoping for the day when we have self-producing microbots that heal wounds and fight off any disease.

At the same time they could disintegrate any matter.

I have no clue as to why people want nano-bots to self replicate. All a micro/nano bot needs to do is track a cell/virus and kill it with a chemical that stops its ability to replicate. Be it cancer or HIVs, that is all you have to do. Keep it from making babies and it depopulates and dies.

Good point. They would make absolutely terrifying weapons, probably worse than nukes. No self replicating then!

But if they cant reproduce, they at least have to be able to maintain one another. You dont want to run the maintenance of a nano fleet by hand. Besides, if you dont teach reproduction, they may try to figure it out themselves. Those dirty crafty little Nanos.

The military wants self-replicating robots and is already working on it.

To me a self-replicating fighting robot is the most stupid thing ever. The best thing about robot armies is how easily they can be controlled. If you have a robot army that can build more of itself and (God Forbid) it has enough capacity to think for itself then you have a potential recipe for a disaster on the global scale.

But maybe I've seen too many sci-fi movies.

Only if you let them. They can't develop AI unless we give them the ability to. And you can run maintenance by hand. Or, by a nano hand you can control. You can have a chamber to repair them in, where they are suspend and a human controls a nano hand (or micro hand) to fix them.

And if worst comes to worst, scrap the bot and re-make it.

You're correct. But they can't just develop AI unless you allow them to run a learning cycle and modify their own code. And even then, you still can't make AI. It is just impossible with "computers" (not with electronics, but with transistors).

Also, why is StompingOnTanks' name in italics at the bottom of the page?

Never underestimate nanosistors. I bet Stomping is under review for tank destruction.

The Nanosisters in the engineering bay are pretty hot, but they're only for guys who like short girls.
