Hi this is my first time on the forum so sorry if i screw up a little. My question is are the spawner mechs in the testing ground suppose to attack you? because they just stand there like dummy targets for me to shoot.

No, they're just for testing weapons, etc. They don't shoot back.

Man, it would be awesome if they did just like 1/1000 times, say on Halloween. :D

Testing grounds they are just dummies to take damage. Some maps have different mechs so it is worth exploring to find out.
If you want ones that shoot back, you will find them in the Academy training.

You can do the Onslaught training mode in the academy, where waves of enemy mechs run at you and will fire once they close to about 100m.

You also have the option of crossing the river into the "active battlezone" where the mechs do not move at all but will fire at you on sight.

Its actually a pretty good tier5 simulator

Can someone define 'troll build' for me?
I see it bandied about, but I can't figure out who is the troll and who they are trolling... and how.

Generally, it's a silly build that no one would normally run, done just for kicks. Something like a King Crab with six machine guns, instead of using the ballistic points for ACs. I guess the people you're trolling, in that case, are probably your own team...

The trick is to do well with it. Like, say, the LRM Oxide. Foolish in the wrong hands, trollish and deadly in the right ones.

They seem to fall into 2 general categories.

1) the intentionally bad build - these tend to be the most common.
2) the intentionally annoying build. Typically something boating class 2 auto cannons, which can result in a lot of screen shake, but takes a lot of face time to do any real damage.

Of course, the two are not mutually exclusive.

Frankly, they can be hard to decipher in the lower tiers because new players tend to honestly have some "interesting build ideas".

Oh, I'm just doing my reading and find references to Troll builds, but they don't explain them in the article beyond providing a build, usually under the heading of "troll build that works".

I guess I get the idea that someone might build a mech that's annoying, but then whom are you trying to annoy, and why was what I was struggling with.

Maybe I'm of a less-than-common-cloth that doesn't care what you bring to PUGlandia, or really anywhere (that remains to be seen, I'm not in faction play, yet).
If you want to make a bad build, go forth. My own stats are less dependent on you than your own stats are a drag on yourself.
If you want to make something that's annoying to fight against, go forth. If I fight you and am annoyed, it's either because I died instantly or I can't get away from you. If neither of those are true, I'll just go fight elsewhere. My annoyance will end as soon as I'm either dead or the mission has ended. Either way, the temporary nature of these games is great for taking things as they go.

I don't understand the folks that think they can control what or how other people play.

Seriously? Someone has to play exactly to [Random Dude's] standards or they become worthy of [Random Dude's] scorn? WTH is wrong with [Random Dude]?

...Sorry. I'm ranting.

There are troll builds are are useless, like a 6 tag and flamer hunchback, then there are those that don't look good on paper, but the creator is actually able to put to good use. Like an AC20 raven or some such.

They say every hour on the hour, but I've never had it be more than about 10 minutes. Now, I haven't checked the clock...

If something is purchased from the gift store you will be emailed a code, redeem the code and the item will be in your account within an hour(but in my experience usually more like 5 minutes)

When a chassis says 30% xp bonus, is that for the chassis Mech XP, GXP, or both?

As far as I know, it affects all of it.

From my knowledge, GXP gained is based on normal mech EXP gained. Thus, a 30% boost to EXP does raise up GXP as well, but not by 30%.

Basically, it's 30% to mech EXP, and because mech experience went up, so does the GXP in relation because it is based off earned mech experience.

That little XPx2 upper left hand corner

What does that mean? I've seen it a couple times, I play the mech and it goes away, but in the mission summary, I don't see any reference..?
