A "turret" on a Mech in TT, for example, requires a Battlemech Turret applied to the weapon: QKD-8X Record Sheet & BGS-4T Record Sheet I don't know if it actually weighs tonnage though.

Those aren't the chin turrets.

Chin turrets are just a visual representation of torso weapons, which are all assumed to have some gimballing to allow a degree of aiming without physically rotating the torso. This is WOG from the design team at Catalyst in this thread.

So the point is moot, the weapons wouldn't be on the arm cursor.

I can't imagine that this community would accept a chin turret on the locust.

I mean, all I hear anymore is whining about the "Locust Meta"

If this thing is modified so that the CT gun fires at the arm reticle, then the Locust will probably be the only mech that anyone uses.

Also, 3/3/3/3 will surely fail due to the inability to find any medium, heavy, or assault pilots to fill in.... They only much over 20 tons that we will ever were will be noobs in trial mech that are still working on buying their first locust.

I'd be OK with a third reticule.

Turrets on the Locust and Wolverine would be amazing, but I really hope they don't go with a MW4 style Mad Dog.

The chin turret in the locust was used because the original locust wasn't able to twist its torso (see Sarna link), as its legs where right at the place where its shoulders would be, giving it a very distinctive look it now lacks :(

The chin turret would enable it to target at least a little. But since we have a completely different body workout here, I don't think we'll get it.

Chin turrets seem reasonable; just treat them like arms. They would have an axis of motion, be lockable to the torso, and be destructible. Their health could be relatively low compared to main body components.

...and it would open up camo/vanity options like Chinderwear (Skip to 2:15):

Agreed! Only, I'd say just link it to the arms instead of a third reticule.

but imagine the locust would lose its torso twist ability and gyro, instead becoming that turret. would make them unique and canon like. Also adds the unqie ability to not having to show your CT when shooing at stuff.

yes but if PGI doesn't execute it right those certain mechs will be much more complicated to use
