Hellhound/Conjurer?

Option A, David White's one. Original TRO artwork looks lazy and generic. MW4 Hellhound corresponds better with rests of the Clan designs. As for the whole "Wolverine IIC referrence - well, Clanners just saw how bad it looked, and reworked it using their parts, to stay on the economical side. Ohh those Clanners.

It isn't supposed to correspond with Clan designs, because it isn't a Clan mech in the first place, it's a Star League era mech upgraded with Clan technology.

Redesigning a mech type that is rarely used anymore is still a huge waste of time. Clanners don't waste stuff, not even time.

Option A for both, more unique in the case of the Hellhound, was one of my favorites in MW4.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB you dips.

A looks like a cookie cutter, no originality, top heavy, **** omni mech. the Hellhound is not an omnimech...

Im sure our artwork guy could do up B to look less like a female autobot, and more like a battle mech.

well, as cool as the MW4 hellhound it, it makes no sense at all, why did they bother redesigning it in the first place? it looks to different why not just make it a new mech?

If the Conjurer (Hellhound) is supposed to be based on this:
Posted Image

Then its clan version should look like this:
Posted Image

Not like this:
Posted Image

Besides the only decent design of the Hellhound is on the right:
Posted Image
I don't even know what possessed the game designer's mind to even skip choice C.

No problem Cycloner, most of the MW4 designs look badass by the way. But I cannot call that thing a Conjurer(Hellhound).

mwo mechs are based on 3050/3055 technical readouts and for that im grateful. mw4's mistake was basing their design on omnimechs and not the wolverine which, as stated repeatedly in this thread, is the basis of the conjurer/hellhound. that took away from the lore of the klans imo. their hatred of the 331 royal battlemech division was reflected in the name change and that they relegated the mech to the worst units as a sign of disdain towards anything related to wolverines.

Also, David White's. Original looks downright silly.

no i would think this is lazy artwork. also if you look up some other mechs from the revised 3025 TRO that has the 2750 TRO mechs you will see more. they look like a 3 year old drew it

Well, David White's drawings show that at least he tried to make it look more like this supposed "Wolverine IIC", but failed. For one simple reason - Alex's work has shown that good redesign should at least incorporate some specific details from original TRO artwork while making it more functional/utitlitarian (if not for aesthetic reason, then at least for modelling/animation)

That wasn't the case here, because original TRO Hellhound/Conjurer has no specific, eye catching details. It hardly has any details at all. Only thing distict about it is "Looks somewhat like bland, generic child of female autobot and Woleverine" (which they couldn't incorporate to their game anyway)

So David White instead of trying to work something essentialy unworkable decided to set lore aside and created one of the most iconic MW games designs ever. And it was a good decision - it was good for MW4, and it would be good for TT, because really - Battletech is currently so deprived of good mech designs, that best course would be to just errata out this whole "Wolverine IIC" fluff and just call it a day.

Because BT universe deserves way better than designs looking like made by lazy 5 year olds between their nappy times.

There are many good design, some of them just needed an updated look (yes Centurion i am looking at you) while the Clan 'Mechs original arts are generally good ;)

For me, Clan artwork (and again - I mean TRO/TT one) ranges from "barely plausible" (Gargoyle) to "actually good" (Warhawk) - but I can agree it's way better than most of IS designs.

In fact i said "the designs are good they just need an updated look". I mean, i find a 65 tons 'Mech with birdlike legs, big center torso and two ear-like missile launchers very good, but the look is quite different between the original art and MWO.

Original OmniMechs art more or less = MWO art so i would say most of those artworks were more than good :D

Oh well, i want to see a MWO Gargoyle. I remember MW2.. . :D

Catapult is funny example, because worst one isnt't actually one from TRO (except sculpt with weirdly elongated legs), but MW4:

Still - Alex's Catapult design for MWO is leagues better. As of Omnis - wherever they could be improved, he did it.

(We can argue about, for example, Summoner's bubbly canopy, but my bet is on differentiating it from T-bolt. Not to mention it looks really cool)

Uhmm.. I think i like more the MW4 catapult (always found it not very nice but not horrible either).

Those legs.. Uuh. ;) No proportions.

About the Summoner.. Differentiating is ok but if you ask me i would have made the T-bolt cockpit bubbled and the Summoner's more square. This is the differnt styles i wanted to see.

Also the right weapon pod barrel is quite a bit too long. I remember someone resizing it in the repainted concept art thread..

I would love to get a conjurer, mad dog, and hellbringer in the next batch of clan mechs, the cauldron born would be a nice mechs to round them out as well.
