Don't do what I do and sell everything to try another mech out, buy a couple of each weapons and save up CC to buy mechs and engines.
I should have had about 50 million in the bank but I don't follow my own advice and buy and sell willy nilly.
Don't be me save up for what you need.

protip: never sell anything (except mech's to make room for another mech bay), you only get 50% of what you paid for it back. Trust me, those heatsinks are going to come in handy again eventually.

Even if a mech is tuned to trash after a patch, do not sell as the pendulum can swing the other way and make a bad mech good at any time.

It would probably be a good idea to get this thread pinned, it's that important.

While it's possible to utilize sell and still profit (I do because I didn't spend money yet for this game for mechbays, and I only sell after total mastering), it's best to not sell if you aren't cheap like myself. Good advice overall though, as some people often start by buying and selling something in the middle of their cadet bonus, then buying and selling another thing by the end of the bonus, leaving themselves with limited C-bills.
