Mass Effect 2 (a damn casual shooter... aww no not another one)

Fallout 3 (New Vegas felt more like the original, but booth lack in the Humor from the original and don't let me start on the Bethesta graphic crap)

Front Mission Evolved (return to the isometric turn-based game pls)

Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine (So much promises, so much deleted content in the end...)

R.U.S.E. (some nice concepts, but realy dropped by players and devs alike)

Sword of the Stars 2 (what a mess... ppl know what I mean)

R.U.S.E is popular and balanced. At least that's what I heard. What makes it a disappointing game?

Well just my impressions I got right after release and my spended playtime then, dunno what they did afterwards, but it bored my right quick and you couldn't play MP outside your region (was fixed later)
but well, I now switched to "Wargame: European Escalation"

-Edit-

Ahh forgot to mention:

Alien vs Predator (2010)
I was hoping for more, like AvP2

My pick would have to be MW3. I guess I just had unfulfillably high expactations for it. Or IW just wanted to close out the series and make a little money as fast as possible. Either or. See, at the end of MW2 I fought through the suburbs of America as a Ranger, and the sight of those Ruskis parachuting into our citizens houses and destroying our homes really stirred up Red Dawn-esque feelings in me. It was AWESOME and TERRYFYING!! Then I fight up to the White House and see them overtaking the capital of our country! Coming out of that bunker for the first time, and seeing the Washington Monument in flames... speechless... and then after all that, Foley stands stoic, telling Cpl. Dunn to wait until we take the fight to Moscow. I was totally stoked when MW3 came out, because I thought I was going to be back on the ground as a Ranger showing the Russians what for. Taking the fight back to their home land, and showing them what they had done to us. I was UTTERLY let down when I found out, instead of playing a normal, grunt Ranger, I'm some sort of random undeveloped ( YES, EVEN MORE SO THAN RAMIREZ ) Delta Force guy fighting in NY. Infinity Ward... ***??

I guess you're talking about Modern Warfare 2 and 3! The abreviation MW is also used on MechWarrior-Titles (MW2/MW3) :)
Infinity Ward died shortly after Modern Warfare 2 has been released, Präsident Jason West und CEO Vince Zampella were fired from Activision Blizzard on the 1st of March 2010, another 28 Developers have left after that. That Infinity Ward that did the most of the Call of Duty series isn't anymore.

For me the big let down of games was Alien vs Predator (2010) I loved AVP2, that was just flat out fun to play and I so enjoyed stomping people as the Alien. Drone was my favorite. Alien life cycle was fun as you can be a Facehugger and literally face rape Human and Preds. So when I heard Alien vs Predator for 360 I was stoked. First played through the Alien story which was fun and ended up being the best out of the three. Then jumped into multiplayer and was disgusted at the horrible balancing with the Preds being so over the top over powered. Basicly taking all the awesomeness from both the Humans and Aliens and gave it to the Preds as basic stuff, but better, and then you get the one shot Plasma Caster (AKA Noobs Blaster) that NEVER misses. My brother and I solved this by having Aliens and Humans only matches and then the game was fun.

C&C4 Tiberium Twilight. What a horrible insult to what was the grand father of a series and one of the best RTS games of all time and then gut everything that made C&C awesome and fun and replaced it with utter CRAP!! I have never before been so insulted in all my life that words can not even describe. C&C Tib Dawn was fun, hell I still have it on my computer. C&C Tiberium Sun was also really fun. C&C3 Tiberium Wars and the popular expansion, Kain's Wrath was just awesome sauce. Then comes out C&C4 which just dumps on EVERYTHING that made C&C great.

Front Mission Evolved was also a steaming pile of escriment.

Eve Online. Mostly because I really, REALLY wanted to like it. But, menus. Menus. MENUS.

Oh, and Wh40K: Space Marine. When I can finish it without losing interest, that's how I know a game's too freaking short.

I actually like EVE a lot. My only problem with it is the Devs, CCP, if you tell them there is an imbalance or something is broken game wise they either "fix" the problem with a patch that requires a patch to fix the first patch and then another patch just because why the hell not. Or, they simply ignore you for 2 years.

Ya I shoulda clarified that. I figured considering I'm a Mechwarrior fan ( aren't we all here? ) that most people would thought of it as Modern Warfare LOL ( Mechwarrior 2 and 3 are classics anybody who's not trolling knows that! ) Ya I remember that situation and the firings at IW, and them having to bring in Sledgehammer games to help. I knew it was bad then... but I still kept my hopes up. I LOVED Modern Warfare 1 and 2, as they were both original in my eyes. They were really neat. MW3 was a huge letdown...

Also, I remember playing AVP 2 in demo form when I was younger. The online RULED! Playing as a marine was creepy and exciting and nerve wracking! Playing as an alien was fast paced and stealthy at the same time. Playing as a Predator was empowering! AVP 2010 was fun... at first. The updated graphics made playing fun, and the Marine campaign was actually pretty cool. Multiplayer was enjoyable to a point. I found that the interspecies deathmatches got boring after repeated play time, but I always found the survival mode against the Aliens as a Marine really cool. It was like being able to play Aliens the movie. I'm hoping that Aliens:Colonial Marines will build on that and deliver what I want out of an Aliens game.

Am old enough to proudly say that I had the dubious honor to play E.T the Extra-Terrestrial (video game).

It was as bad as, or even worse than, everyone says it was. Just getting out of the pit was enough to make even Mother Teresa curse up a blue streak.

All kinds of lessons to be learned from that debacle.

RAGE - This was actually a really good game once the initial issues were patched up, but it felt like it was cut short and ended about 1/3 of the way in, with no real end boss. If it had been three times as long and had a better story overall ('The Authority' was never really elaborated upon), it would have fared a lot better.

Currently, the only thing that immediately comes to mind is 'Mass Effect 3'.
I enjoyed the game. Loved it, actually, for the most part...then the last 10 or so minutes ruins the entire experience.
I honestly hope that they 'fix' the whole ending thing (for free, too). :)

This is normally the case but there are exceptions to this, Dead Space 1 and 2 were great games, I just hope EA doesn't butcher Dead Space 3.

Most disappointing retail game: Railroad Tycoon 3. Graphics were upgraded from others in the series, but the economic mode and track laying were both weak and overcomplicated. Also, you couldn't get a handle on what was happening with the railroad unless you zoomed out to a camera in deep space and made it look like the 1989 version, so you hardly ever got to enjoy all that graphical content if you were serious about making a working company.

Most disappointing Web game: Evony. At some point you realize, there is no reason to fight any other player, and no benefit to doing so; but since you are part of an alliance headed by 12 year olds who can barely type in English, inevitably they will pick some BS reason to start a no-holds barred war with a huge alliance. Again there is no explanation in game why you should actually engage in miltary conquest when the most engaging part of it is more like Simcity. Also, hideously expensive if you're not careful.

Most disappointing recent games: Red Alert 3 - acting is good, but outlandish, missions are either super easy or made artificially difficult.

RAGE was mildly disappointing because the endiing seemed a bit shortened, even though the time-to-complete for the single player campaign was on par with other open world simulators such as Stalker Clear Sky; a lot of the disappointment is because of the expectations established by the Bethesda Fallouts with their huge single player campaigns. Also, RAGE stopped development of DLC and expansions, which is too bad because the AI and graphics engine is unparalleled. Hopefully the technology will be used in new titles soon.
