Exclusive Look: Banshee Hero - La Malinche

THE BANSHEE

Originally produced in 2445, the Banshee is a forerunner to most modern BattleMechs. Despite what some might consider its grandfather status, the Banshee continues to be a major threat on the battlefield.

The unique “La Malinche” variant is a powerful war machine, and with the Aztec-inspired art of old Terra, she is both as beautiful, as she is deadly.

Equipped with a massive arsenal of weapons, there is guaranteed to be something for every MechWarrior. Along with the capability to equip an Anti-Missile System, “La Malinche” comes stock with a Small Pulse Laser in the head, a PPC in the left arm, an AC/10 and Medium Pulse Laser in the left torso, an LRM15 in the right torso, and finally a Large Pulse Laser in the right arm.

Moving at a top speed of 64.8 kph with the aforementioned weapons loadout is not a problem thanks to its 380XL Engine, and staying cool in the heat of battle is no sweat thanks to 16 upgraded Double Heat Sinks. And how does she handle? Well you're in luck, as I just happen to have received the latest diagnostic results. The tests show that the torso can move 110 degrees to each side with a 20 degree angle pitch, though it appears that the range of the arc results in a 10% reduction in speed. The arms are capable of moving 20 degrees to each side, and 30 degrees up and down. All this, combined with an Endo-Steel Internal Structure, and over 17 tons of Standard Armor, makes “La Malinche” a force to be reckoned with.

You named your thread wrong (it's Banshee, not Battlemaster).

EDIT: NVM you just caught it.

This looks pretty bland for a hero. It's worse than the Atlas-RS despite the fact you can favor one side.

I guess it's time for torso hunting.

Edit:

The last energy hardpoint is in the head.

It's literally worse than an RS...

reminds me of the hardpoint layout for the BNC3S, with the missile pod on the shoulder rather than the arm like the 5S.

ETA:

nevermind, the concept art from the video preview looks like it IS the BNC-3S

Think of it as a heavier 5 llas stalker, with the ability to also carry a machinegun!

And TAG!

Why does it say that "Facebook" is currently reading this topic, and why is that name unclickable?

That is one seriously ugly mech. Looks like a Battlemaster wearing a gas mask.

I give it one big "Meh".

Looks more like a Kintaro to me. Kinda sad when it's supposed to have an iconic Atlas like face.

Yeah, that easily takes the crown for ugliest mech in the game. And not the cool ugly crown the Atlas gets. This gets the 1960s generic robot "walking brick wall with arms outstretched" crown.

Actually I think what really lets this banshee down compared to previous Battletech art is the lack of detail in the head/face. The mask should be very foreboding/intimidating. This one just looks featureless. The MWO Victor has more detailed cockpit glass geometry for goodness sakes.

Their watching and tracking people... hush!

On topic... it looks so bland in terms of layout, it now feels just like the Pretty Baby (that's what I was getting a deja-vu of). I'll see how they field, but it might be the best time to start assault hunting in my Ember!

I like the ugly. Ugly mechs make me happy.

The pattern... meh. I'm really not fond of the pattern. And the hardpoints seem... Lackluster. A single missile hardpoint is hard to make effective use of. A single ballistic hardpoint isn't bad, but multiple hardpoints give you so many more options. Twin AC5's vs. AC10, for example.

Can someone tell me - why the designers put the energy weapons on the bottom of the arm? From a design perspective... this makes no sense... Why would you mount weapons lower, when you can mount them higher.

I'm loving this game. Yet I am frustrated at the designs of some mechs. The Battlemaster and Atlas have the same problem. If there was an advantage for this, I'd be ok with this, but I do not see the advantage.

Balance, not that it is ever a good idea in this game.
