I'm wondering if your PSU is on the week side or if you have a 12v rail on the way out. what brand and size of psu do you have?

Again, this is the only game that does it.

But anyways, I have a Corsair TX850 with a rated maximum 70A 12v rail. All rails measure well within ATX spec, there is almost no droop.

In MWO with AFR I'm seeing 600-700 watts at the wall with 3 monitors on the same power strip. CF Off is about 450-500 watts at the wall. Both these power figures are in line with the system I am running which is no where near maxing out the PSU.

I just read a review on Tom's Hardware that stated "With all of that said, you can see AMD's Radeon R7 265 is an overclocked Radeon HD 7850...". Has anyone bean successful setting up a 7850 and an R7 265 in crossfire?

Any of the new rebadged cards will work in crossfire with their older named card.
IDK about the 265, but the 280x is a 7970 (280x originally shipped with the exact same bios as a 7970, this could have changed by now though).

Check AMD's site and marketing material to be sure the 265 can be paired with a 7850. But, you are probably better off selling the 7850 and just buying a single more powerful card.

Just run the game in FULL WINDOW mode you will have no gfx issues and get all the power your ATi can dish. Its that simple.

2x 7870s
FX8350
16GB 1866
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
2x 10K raptors
2x 500MB storage drives
Win 7 Ultimate

Will not work for everyone. Does not work on my setup. I can't see if performance is the same or better since the game is not 'fullscreen window''ing correctly, but in every other game that has a full screen windowed mode, it usually runs the same as windowed mode, which is always very noticeably worse than full screen.

I thought crossfire only worked in "fullscreen". Anyone get this working on 290s?

Made every change, but still running in windowed mode, other 2 cards are still doing nothing and framerate sucks just as much as usual.

Awesome, I turned on dx11 and fullscreen and my framerate went down to 7 fps. This is using 3 290x cards. FIX YOUR PIECE OF SHIT GAME PGI.

Ok, so this does not work using amd 290 cards and fullscreen.

I think it is hilarious that this game can not be maxxed out using the fastest video card on the planet because PGI has no clue how to program.

Ok, just to bring this all home a little bit better. My machine is running:
3x 290(unlocked to full shader 290x)
3x ek waterblocks to keep these monsters under control
1x 4770k overclocked to 4.7ghz
1x ek extreme waterblock to keep it cool
3x u2713 Dell monitors spanned to display 7990x1440 resolution
1 game that can't support dx11 or multicard displays
1 Paul that needs to be fired (out of a cannon into the sun)

With the last few patches and AMD driver updates CF sort of works, but its still from workable on my setup (Z77x UD3H, CF 7970, 14.4 Drivers).

DX9 and Bioshock sort of work, but I get bad-continuous stutter. Worse than any Microstutter i've seen. In DX11, The Crysis 3 profile works, but with a lot of mechs around the performance is just as bad as running a single card.

DX9 and Crysis 2 (and sometiems AFR) sort of works, but at the start of each match I have to enable, then disable PostAA. There's also a hint of microstutter, but its playable.

The default profile is actually working, if I use MSAA in DX11. But MSAA puts such a hit on performance that I'm back to where I was with 1 card (MSAA halves my framerate, CF just re-doubles back to where I was without MSAA).

It works to a point with me. I have a AMD1100T CPU, 8GB DDR2 and 3x ATI HD4870. Bioshock 2 worked very well using just two cards in full window mode. AFR sort of works with 3 cards but only in full screen mode and there is the odd graphics glitch along with rather inconsistent frame rates jumping from 120 to 20 for some odd reason.

Just curious if SLI is still working with latest patch. I still have to go through the setup on the first post to try it myself, haven't played MWO for a couple months.

I just got a second GTX 660Ti for SLI and the settings in the OP work for me pretty well. It isn't perfect, but it's not a disaster, either. I was able to confirm 100% utilization on card 1 and 99% utilization on card 2 last night.

A couple of quick notes:
I have seen FPS as low as 45FPS and as high as 80FPS in the middle of skirmishes with multiple units involved
FPS varies somewhat greatly on different maps
The OP states AA creates weird patches, but I'm not seeing what is described there
I do get some flickering, its pretty noticeable in the mechlab and in action
I haven't seen anything higher than 1571MB of VRAM used

I am running: Intel Core i7 2600K (daily OC is@4.2GhZ), 2x GTX 660Ti 2GB (1 Galaxy, 1 MSI), 2x4GB DDR3-1866, 1TB Velociraptor (where the game is installed, OS is on a Samsung 840 Pro SSD)
Game settings: 1920x1080, DX11, everything on Very High, AA set to TXAA

Good to hear, I recently purchased a LG 34UM95 monitor and I really need my second GTX 780 Ti. During some battles FPS can drop down to 30 FPS with only 1 GTX 780 Ti when using very high settings. Usually Vram is around 2-2.5GB, if I raise the AA a lot it will use all 3GB.

Edit: Unfortunately its unplayable for me, after going through the steps in the OP and running the repair utility I see a ghost image of the mech bay flashing constantly during the game. I have tried turning off damage glow and also AA completely, but this does not help.

After editing the registry Reboot your computer

next you will have to set up a profile in the catalyst control center for
- Open Catalyst Control Center
- Open Gaming tab
- Open 3d Applications tab
- Click +Add on this page.
- Select your MWOClient.exe ( C:/Program Files (x86)/ Piranha Games/ Mechwarrior Online/ Bin32
- Then Select Bioshock.exe or Borderlands 2 as the Application Profile.

I've been running in crossfire for a while - I tried using the bioshock and borderlands2 profiles instead of the normal default one and it slowed things down a lot. The only thing I changed last night was turning ulps off (I had turned it back on for some unremembered reason) - here are my test results

Side note: I don't like using DX11 because it feels like there is input lag when I do.
Other side note: I don't use vsync; I'd rather see screen tearing than have input lag. I'm chasing as many FPS as I can, because the FPS takes a substantial hit when I start streaming on twitch at 1080p/60fps.
One more side note: With the most recent AMD beta drivers I don't get flicker. I used to get flicker only in mechlab.

Game settings: Very High

user.cfg multigpu 1, glass/grain removed
equal utilization on both cards
SLI Enabled
ULPS Enabled
Starting location: tourmaline, next to the atlas
170-180fps while moving

user.cfg multigpu 1, glass/grain removed

ULPS Disabled
Starting location: tourmaline, next to the atlas
190fps while moving

switched to borderlands profile
cleared shaders
equal utilization on both cards
user.cfg multigpu 1, glass/grain removed
SLI Enabled
ULPS Disabled
Starting location: tourmaline, next to the atlas
90fps while moving

switched to bioshock profile
cleared shaders
equal utilization on both cards
user.cfg multigpu 1, glass/grain removed
SLI Enabled
ULPS Disabled
Starting location: tourmaline, next to the atlas
70-80fps

ran driver cleaner in safe mode and installed newest amd beta drivers

cleared shaders
equal utilization on both cards
user.cfg multigpu 1, glass/grain removed
SLI Enabled
ULPS Disabled
Starting location: tourmaline, next to the atlas
200-220fps

Computer specifications
Intel core i7 3770k water cooled (corsair h110) cpu@ 4.9ghz
32gb ram
2xHiS Radeon 7950 BOOST graphics cards, clocked 1100mhz core 1500mhz mem

CPU temp never got above 54c
Graphics cards got up to 65c

FPS reads 15-20fps higher in FRAPS than in MWO - it seems like hitting f9 to turn on the FPS counter has it's own little hit. Turning off the HUD also boosts fps :P (and it looks great!)

Remember to check your motherboard specs, both PCI Express should have the capability to run at x8/x8 to have equal transfer rate. If you have 1 pci express 3.0 x16 and 1 pci express 2.0 x4, your crossfire setup wont work correctly!

Thanks for the thread, I'm up and running with dual 7850 cards on 3 monitors at 5040 x1050, still some tweaking to do though.
At first my gpus were running at 100 and 30 percent, t
hese settings got me to 82 and 77. Are you getting more gpu utilization?
I was able to get average 45fps on very high during the first run, but now down to 25fps for some reason after fiddling too much. Low gets me back up to 45, so I'll have to find my way back.

Ok, i loaded everything up on a different boot drive, same thing. Started on low settings, got 80 - 100fps, switched to ultra high and got 45, all good. After the first reboot now I get half those numbers.. haven't change anything. Wtf
