Locust Hero:

0 AMS
1 ECM hardpoint
1 CT Missile hardpoint
2 each RA and LA Energy hardpoint

Stock build is ECM, SRM4, and 4x SLs.

The build works with an XL190 if you drop 2 points from each arm and lower the head to 9 armor. 1 ton of ammo.

Alternatively, drop to an XL180, and max the armor.

this I would take. it is like the one thing we don't have is one with a missile bay and more than 2 enegry slots.

guess they could do

180XL, Endo, ferro, 4 SL, Narc, 2 tons ammo (7 tons total stuff)

this assumes no ECM

If they were going to make a hero locust, I'd prefer something a bit different:

1 energy hardpoint in CT (just one)
Quirks: +50% acceleration, deceleration, turn speed, and torso twist speed.

This mech would be a lot of fun to play, but considering how easy it is to 1-shot a locust, it definitely wouldn't be OP.

ECM on a hero would be too P2W unless you put that ECM clot in the CT along-side a weapons hardpoint.

I could go for one with quadruple AMS and ECM with two beam hardpoints (L and R Torsos), two ballistic hardpoints (L and R Torsos), and a single missile hardpoint (CT). Think of all the options!

I honestly agree with the OP of using the 3V as the base for a Locust hero mech (I was hoping that was going to be the 4th variant released, but they went with the 1M, instead).

Personally, I think it should have hardpoints exactly matching what one would expect of the 3V (which makes it readily inferior to most of the others), but give it some extra quirks to make it shine as a hero mech:

The Locust Plague: LCT-P

•Tonnage: 20

•Engine: 200 XL
•Top Speed: ~158 kph (~173.8 tweaked)

•Max Engine Rating: 200

•Torso Movement:
•120 degrees to each side.
•30 degrees up and down.

•Arm Movement:
•0 degrees to each side.
•60 degrees up and down.

•Armor: 125 (Ferro Fibrous)

•Internal Structure: Endo Steel

•Weapons & Equipment:
•Center Torso: Medium Laser x2
•Left Arm: Machine Gun
•Right Arm: Machine Gun
•Right Torso: 1 ton machine gun ammo, 1 heat sink
•Left Torso: 1 ton machine gun ammo, 1 heat sink

•Hardpoints:
•Center Torso: 2 Energy
•Left Arm: 1 Ballistic
•Right Torso: 1 AMS
•Right Arm: 1 Ballistic

•Heat Sinks: 10 Single
•Jump Jets: 0 (0 Max)
•ECM Capable?: No

•Module Slots:
•Mech: 1
•Consumable: 2
•Weapon: 2

•Movement Archetype: Tiny

•Quirks:
•+10 degrees Torso Pitch Range (taking it from the 20 degrees of most locusts to 30)
•-10% ballistic recycle time
•+10% ballistic damage
•-10% energy recycle time
•+10% energy damage

•30% C-Bill Bonus

The Locust Plague gives you a light swarming mech that is the fastest mech in the game (by 3 kph . . . but I think all LCT mechs should have a max engine of 200). The very light hardpoint layout is augmented by the quirks to give you rapidly hitting and surprisingly damaging weapons for such a tiny mech. It takes a medium laser to a whopping 5.5 damage, and a machine gun to .88 damage, but that can make a huge difference when strafing your enemies and striking their weak points. Even swapping to a large laser will only give you 9.9 damage . . . but that one point could be the difference between cherry-red or dead . . . and that's where the Locust Plague would excel.

...And the only weapons hardpoints are in the CT.

"Invalid Loadout - No Valid Weapons Equipped"

:P

...I will buy any hero locust that has at least 3 energy points.
