Was doodling in one on my TROs (something I tend to do while watching TV, doodle in old TROs in pencils to see if I can "improve" the existing designs.) When I came up with this real rough concept for an upgraded 3050 Era Grasshopper. The body is sort of a mix of Nova Cat and Grasshopper.

and here is the build info, though it is supposed to have Triple Strength Myomers, also.

I think in 3050 TT it would be pretty devastating. A heavily armored mech cruising at 84 kph, jumping 120 meters, packing dual ER Larges for long range, and up close, 4 MPLasers, 1 LPLaser and an SRM4. And once it's heated up, those Myomers provide some serious hand to hand capability.

But, before I "finalize" thought I would get some input on the basic design itself.

Thanks.

I love to see this thing. +1 Thank you for sharing this, we need more stuff like this. There are dozens of mechs I would love to see come to the game, we need a player moderated forum for posting designs (and Mods?!?) to be voted on by the community to get the in game. I have never been part of a game that had such rich lore and strong fans and I am loving it.

I think the shoulders could be trimmed down a bit. Too much Nova Cat influence. The head is a hard sell for me right now too as it does not seem to insect like. I do like the broad chest and the legs are a bit more dynamic than the originals.

Still playing with that, though TBH, never been to big a fan of "totem" elements in Mechs. The Wolfhound is one of the Few for me. Too gundamy, in general!

I'm liking the legs and the roundness of the head. I'll add my voice to the shoulder trimming as well. Perhaps echo the angularity of the lower legs on the shoulder pauldrons? Hopefully a bit more weapon-pod bulge for the side torso lasers?

I think the concept for a new Grasshopper is already pretty well done by Shimmering Sword.

Sorry, Steiner. I know you like to draw, but this time you have a tough act to follow.

Perhaps, and don0t take this the wrong way, but it's kind of a ddick move to post other artists stuff directly on an artists threads. Plus, by your reasoning, I should stop drawing all together?

Also, Shim (aka Anthony is great, and has been a great help to me), but his designs rarely have the MWO aesthetic.

Actually that is 'Shortpainters' work, not Shimmering Swords. Just to clarify, sorry OP, just wanted to correct that error.

Interested to see how your take on the Grasshopper works out, Bishop.
Looks pretty good in terms of the overall idea.
Keep going!

I thought the style looked very off for being Shim. Makes perfect sense for SP. Has that leaner overall aesthetic to his work. Not quite as "crude" and industrial as Alex.... nice to see all the differing styles the more popular artists have for stuff. Would love to see SP's take on Macross, Patlabor or other Mecha Universes. (His Charger is probably still my fave by him)
