I have recently upgraded my graphics card from my old 650 ti to a brand new higher end graphics card. But I've noticed no increase in fps regardless.

My current setup is as follows

Evga Gtx 780 Ti 3gb super clocked (all drivers are up to date)
i5 3570k running at 4.0 ghz
16 gb ram
Windows 7
And to make sure I've looked at the heat on my cpu and 48 is the highest it's gone.

It would probably help to say that other graphically intense games have suffered no fps drops at all. Infact I've gained 25 fps on titan fall on max(good game btw)
increase of 20 on crisis 3 on max
and increase of about 40 on skyrim

Believe the short answer is the optimization is terrible. I just recently installed a gtx 750 ti 2gb superclocked and got massive performance increase in all games over my 550 ti except mwo. probably 15-20 boost in certan situations then the usual fps bomb in random locations on some maps.

Don't run MSAA or TSAA.
DX9 is better than DX11 at the moment.
Clear shader cache.

MWO seems to be more CPU bound than GPU bound. If you are already maxing your CPU, upgrading to a better graphics card isn't going to give you much (if any) improvement.

I get 30-40 fps with an old GTX 285 2Gb, but my CPU is overclocked to 3.6 GHz.

The biggest FPS bomb sometimes it's the dense black smoke from reaching high heat with energy weapons.

MWO is CPU intensive not GPU. The GPU is doing next to nothing.

Try Disable CPU Core Parking Utility. see attached link.

Would be interesting what resolution you're using. I hardly can get my system exceed 50ish fps at 2560x1440 with everything on high settings...

Interesting, I'm running the same CPU, a GTX 770 and 8gb ram yet getting better performance than you, (im running at 1440p too)

Might I suggest:
1. Reinstalling MWO completely (old shader caches can cause issues they did for me a couple of patch ago)
2. run the new Geforce Beta drivers, they gave me nearly 10fps improvement in dx11

This is a well known issue acknowledged by the devs.

First of all the game is CPU bound in many cases.

Furthermore, some of the essential CPU workload does not multi thread effectively. I believe there is an operation which is called the primary render thread which only runs on one core.

This means that if this thread maxes out one core then you will get fps dips - even when the GPU and other CPU cores are not at capacity.

Matthew Craig jumped in to a few threads to talk about this but I can not find the link. He did say that performance can be improved for most people by reducing those graphical settings that are most CPU bound:

Object Detail
Environment
Shadows

I knocked these down from very high to high - but Matthew recommends trying medium.

Also, follow the advice above with regards to the repair tool, cleaning shaders and updating graphics drivers.

I went crazy trying to trace the fps dips, but in the end I acknowledged it was the game and not my rig.

All goes in your user.cfg; It assumes you have Glow turned off, Shadows and Particles set to Medium, and that you don't have a sound card.

Note both framerate limit statements: Sometimes I hear back one works on AMD where the other doesn't, so I include both; You'll want them to match when you get around to testing higher numbers.

sys_TaskThread0_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread1_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread3_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread5_CPU = 0
but I can't really test that out on a quad-core for you: You'll have to decide to risk it or not yourself.

This bad performance still persist till closed beta and it will probably never change.
MWO is just a bad designed game. period. How else can you explain that just the User Interface eats up most of the performance?

During a match hit RIGHT SHIFT + F11 keys and you will have double FPS immediately. :(

RIGHT SHIFT + F11 disables HUD. Personally, I gain no FPS by doing so.
In my opinion, smoke kills FPS in MWO. River city runs worse than Crimson strait, despite being a smaller map.

yes, smoke is the worse. In adv zoom when heat raises and mech causes smoke is a pain.

To reiterate, this game is very CPU intense as listed in the link below in the Performace section by one of the Admins/Devs

There is NO NEED to disable CPU Core Parking !!!
There will be no parking after starting the game! If your CPU is bussy it will never park ... NEVER!

@Joshua Obrien:
Can you post your RAM specs here please.

what do you mean by "running at 4.0 ghz" ? fixing the clock disables your turbo-mode! or did you increased your multi only?
