With the upcoming balancing update of 3/3/3/3 is their anyone interested in a few last romps with a Scout Lance? I've never done one and this could be the last chance... :-(

I'm always down for that. And it's still an option: run three Lights and a fast Medium (like a 130kph Wolverine).

Steiner scout lance = 4 Atlases. You could bring in a 'phract, but it still won't be the same.

There will always be private matches.
Ill be happy to take a few well piloted mediums against your Atlai.

Three Atlas' and an Orion would be better, surely?

If you are a real Steiner, you would realize its more of an in-universe derogatory joke then a statement of fact.

Steiners actually have a huge amount of lighter designs that they are known for. From the Wolfhound, the Commando, to the Hatchet man, and the griffin (considered the "main" Steiner mech up until the late 3050's.)

The entire "Steiner scout lance" joke pokes fun at the perception that despite a massive production of assault mechs, Steiners aren't really known for their mechwarrior or commander "prowess." That is unless they have a "Davion" or a "Kell" in their name or are affiliated with the Fedcom alliance.

Very true, but what i'd love to do is play to the stereotype. Great stories often come from just such ridiculousness!

Besides, my Butler cannot fit into a commando...:-P

Nonsense, you can equip an comando with an command console, wich is basically a second seat for an consulting officer.

Don't paint it all grey - a Orion is still a valid Steiner Scout - hell you can even add the same firepower to that Mech as you have on a AS7-D

Thank you for this post, OP. It reminded us that we should run 3 stalkers and a DDC for old times sake. Apparently, we weren't the only guys dropping who were doing "Steiner Scout" drops for nostalgia's sake last night.

There is always hope. Maybe one of the benefits associated with Steiner in CW can be the ability to drop a Steiner scout lance. :o

There was a time.... back in closed Beta days. When we would run 8 Atlases, or 8 Jenners. Granted, we only had 4 or 5 mechs to choose from. But other than the Sarah Jenner event, I've seen nothing like it since. I do have fond memories...
