Ever dig out chassis you avoided because you found the Meta boring, and looked for ways that were non-Meta, but still effective (at least for you?) If so, what are some of your "pet" builds?

A few of mine:

LIGHT:
FS9-H

MEDIUM:
HBK-4G
GRF-1N

HEAVY:
CTF-3D
ON1-VA
SHD-2D2

ASSAULT:
MISERY

Of course, almost as much fun will be the "Meta-Overlords" coming on here to post about the futility and noobishness of these builds. (And still be proclaiming so when I kill them with one of these)

yours?

Although lights arent generally "meta abusers" I like to pretend they are when I wreck them in my 140KPH Trebuchet.

Not sure what you'd consider, but here goes:

HBK-4H

HBK-4SP

GRF-1N

SHD-2H

CPLT-C1

JM6-S

The heavier I go, the more "meta" I guess it happens to start. I guess i do have a Cataphract and Orion with AC/20 + bunch of medium lasers and the like, guess that doesn't count.

My current FOTM include everything meta is:

I kinda consider that build meta, but considering I'm using it (more or less a variation of it), at this point it's the only mech that isn't a Jenner that I like brawling with.

I see a tragic error in that build. See if you can spot it. ;)

no error. Just laziness. I figure if a person can't figure the ammo out, they are too dumb to play the game. The original loadout used LB-X, was meant to be a "crit" seeker. I decided I didn't like it. Same reason I post generic armor values. Some things are worth making an effort over. switching lb ammo to ac ammo in smurfy? Not really a concern.

streaks are not "skilled" enough to be meta, and no self respecting metawhore would use a single UAC. And "Meta-Streakers" are always tragically misguided builds that do away with the Ballistic, under the misguided notion that running 113 kph is going to make the build significantly better.

"Light hunters". One of the worst concepts in MWO.

always time to rehab.

Slow it down. Add a BFG. Learn the joy of letting the little boogers come to you, then clawing their face off with ballistic love!

That Griffin! It burns my eyes!

For the record, I use a 3M with dual large pulse and an SRM6.

it'll burn yer face if you are in the OpFor. It works amazingly well as a *gasp* all purpose support mech.

Only bads use multi role mechs. SPECIALIZE ALL THE TIME. 1620 BLAZE IT SOLDIER.

I have fun with multi role mechs though, stock weapons Thunderbolt is a hoot to run. My fingers dash everywhere in a somewhat vain attempt to fire everything efficiently.

i only need 3 fire groups. SSRMs and Mediums are linked, PPC is another, and LRMs to the Scroll wheel.

Well thats only 3 weapon groups. The stock Thunderbolt (which is a blast to run) has like....3 mediums, machine guns (which are the hardest to group because they are constant), SRM2, LRM15, and a large laser. I end up using like 5 groups, one for the LRM15, one for the machine guns, one for all the lasers, and one for the SRM2 and finally a separate one for just the arm laser.

So yeah my fingers are lighting up that keyboard and playing Twister.

Do LRMs count as meta now? I see a lot of tears about them so I'm not sure if they've been promoted to meta. If not:

Trooper 2D2

Also, for supporting my LRM brothers:

Narc Squirrel 3L

JR7-D
RVN-2X

HBK-4H

AWS-8Q
VTR-9S

Not sure if the Jenner build counts as meta or not. I feel like the 'meta' JR7 builds use two SSRMs or the JR7-F.

Just for funsies, here are the non-meta builds I used to run that have been ruined by balance changes (mostly ghost heat):

AWS-9M
AWS-8Q
AWS-8R

HBK-4P
HBK-4H

RVN-4X

I like your style. "That arm is coming off anyway, might as well let it blow up when it does!"
