Since we're sharing - I happen to be XPing Griffins right now.

GRF-3M
This was my first - anything with 4 launchers I immediately default to streaks as that's one of the things I enjoy to play the most.

EDIT NOTE: This was very similar to my SHD-2D2 ... which I may now re-configure.

GRF-1S
Ammo placement isn't exact, but this is basically what I ran with. It was stupid effective, though totally comprised of crap I hate (LRMs)

The remaining one I'm either going to run 3xLRM10 or 3xSRM6, haven't decided yet. I'm kinda hoping for a hit-registration update, in which case I'd go w/ the SRMs.

Heh, I am running an XL325 in mine and using 1ERLL and 1ML (to make room for that bigger XL).

I'm glad that you like it but here are a couple of things:
  • Drop either your extra DHS or 2 JJs and put in TAG on your right arm. BAP might be ok for when you get an ECM Light in your face but it doesn't do you any good with a target at range.
  • You're running a MASS amount of ammo - 6 tons equates to 54 launches. Why do you need so much ammo?

I run that much ammo just for lack of anything else to put there. I like the BAP for people who are hiding and shut down. and the JJ's are because I want to FLYYYYYYYYYYY!

My biggest issue with the LRM 5 and it's the same reason I don't run the 3M is that a single AMS will shoot every missile out of the volley before it ever hits a target.

Only if you chain fire them - 3 LRM5 weigh the same as a 15 - but give the option of chainfire if no AMS is present - and reload faster to boot. :)

Also, keep in mind that while no-one fears a single LRM5 (though sometimes they should ^_^ I get a lot of kills with "worthless" weapons like that - usually because people will ignore me, and just let me pound them) if everyone on your team brings one - that is a 60tube launch! (works better in fully coordinated teams obviously )

I like your build, but I would drop two tons of ammo (or 1 ton of ammo and the extra DHS), and add a TAG and a ton of armor to your torso and legs. IMHO, mechs with max JJ should also max their leg armor, because when you're flying your legs will take a lot of damage that would have otherwise gone into your upper body.

I run my 2D2 almost the same way, except I use LL and a XL280 instead, with an extra JJ and DHS.

I think the 2D2 build is superior because having both lasers in the arms allows them to track better, versus having the torso laser in the Griffin playing catch-up to arm laser.

If and when I buy a 3M, I'll probably modify your build like so:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a921b79719dcb69

Swapped the 2 ERLL for one LPL in the arm and a backup ML in the torso, with 4 more JJ added from the weight savings. It's a shorter ranged but more mobile build.

Doesn't look like much on paper, but it just delivers. :/ Only 10 games played after the reset:

Off to a good start. :)

Easily fixable by shifting the ammo around though. :)

Had to choose either unbalanced JJs or unbalanced ammo, since I didn't want anything in the legs.

For me on JJing mediums, the legs seem to usually be the first part to get destroyed.

its all in your mind, there is no performance difference in having them unbalanced, or having one in the side vs. center torso on mechs allowing it, in FACT there are builds where its vastly preferable for your loadout to have JJ's on one side

yeah, keep hoping one day they will implement required jj balancing. I could care less about "optimal" builds, sorry, things like that just bug my OCD too much!

What about tag? Not only does it let you pierce the ECM bubble for you (and your LRM buddies) - but it helps both your spread & lock-on time considerably.

You might try this instead (drop 2 jj for a tag....move ammo from side torso's to legs)...
