So I was having some performance issues and for whatever reason decided to try switching to DX11 to try and see if it helps. Now I cant play at all. it says "3DX could not be found" or something like that.
At the current moment I'm running the repair tool to see if it could help, I also looked through the folders to try to find an out of game way to change the Dx settings with no luck

Heh.
Another suggestion is to find your game folder. Mine is:
E:\Games\MWO\MechWarrior Online
But yours will be different.
There you will find "system.cfg"
Open this with notepad.
There's a line there.
Change that to read "DX9"
Save and retry the game.
If that does not work, Systemoverride.cfg and
instead of DX11.
If that doesn't work, bang your head against your desk and contact support.

Trying to edit systemoverride.cfg and it's giving me access denied.
[Edit] Aha, fiddled with it a bit and got it to work. Thanks Koniving! That's twice you've saved my arse

Glad I could help. Not sure why Blood is laughing, but I suppose it's because inside System.cfg it literally says "DX11 does not work yet?" Who knows.

Maybe it was a jab at PGI support?

Oh right!
The "Bang your head against the desk and contact support." Forgot about that.
I spent some time doing that with the cable company trying to fix and IP conflict issue preventing me from playing another game.

I did manage to fix the performance issues. Turned it to windowed and set the res as low as possible. Doesnt look amazing but it plays better than before. I still enjoy playing on my friend's beast of a rig better though
