Well... I have no idea what just happend...
I played on crimson strait, assault mode, where I got into some fire and lost my side torso.
When I pulled back and looked at my mechs status panel i noticed that my arm was still there.
At first I expected it to be a visual bug but then I clicked on the fire button and saw the laser! Yes I could shoot that thing, I even damaged enemies with it, it clearly dealt some damage!
This was the first time I saw something like this happening ingame. Too bad I forgot to take a screenshot from the outside, I'm still curious how that might have had looked...

Hehe yeah that happens sometimes, think I still have a screenshot somewhere where my BLR was running around without a side torso but with the arm.
And yes the arm-weapons still work so it's not just "cosmetical".
Chalk it up as "weird random stuff".

It happens on and off. Been the better part of a year since I've seen this, but it used to be quite common (1 in 20ish?) to happen on my Hunchbacks.

My Stalkers have done it a couple of times in patches gone by. Nothing recently though, but I really have only just started playing again

Got this as well in AS7-D with my left arm. It looks like it's still attached from outside btw, but since it was red i didn't manage to take many screens.
I also confirm that the LPL in that arm worked.

Its a bug where the paperdoll doesn't update correctly. You still have 1-2 points of internals health but it already shows black (aka gone) side torso. Thats why you can 'see' yourself lose side but don't die with XL, because its actually still there.

The mech you see on the screenshot has an standard engine and the torso was clearly gone. I couldn't use the LRM15 anymore, AMS is destroyed and also lost the ammo in there.

Probably some rounding errors inside the paper doll procedure. For example if your ST has 0.4 HP it is rounded down to 0 for display purposes but the actual destruction happened when HP<0.
