Honestly, I'm just curious. Those of you who have alt accounts...why do you? Since nothing is tradeable in this game, you may as well put all your mechs on one account and stock up...sharing modules, weapon caches...etc.

Granted, I CAN see having a 'camera' account for making movies/taking screenshots, or even a 'testing' account to try out crazy stuff if you care about stats, or to test the 'new player' experience.

Do you guys have alt accounts for any other reasons?
Marduk
I created my first Alt to test Elo. My Elo as Joe has been inflated by being part of the Law. So I created a Alt to see how well I can PUG. But I added limitations due to all the rancor over Mediums. So I ground up to a Cicada using mostly energy weapons... Not my best area. No Mech over 1.0 W/L 0.83 KdR

Xando
Then I created an Alt cause I wanted to see how I fit as a Cavalry player. Fast medium/heavies. Not bad but not my strong suit. Funny fact, I did good in a Jenner for two weeks... then Elo caught up! Kurita (K suffix) mostly but bought a Heavy Metal. Treb-K was the best W/L KDR on this Alt

Anton
Least restrictions, Bought a Awesome to start (PPCs were being cried about as OP at this time.) I did well in the Awesome but didn't like the ease at which they died. As a Davion I jumped into the Jagers and had a good time. Played AC10s over mediums, AC5s over SRMs AC5s over AC2s... Found I really liked the AC20s Over all! Anton did well in Centurions, Jagers and OK in Stalkers. But the lack of weapon limitations had given Anton a really good Feel playing and likely the higher Elo of all but Joe.

Each of my Accounts was made to test some mechanic in the game... with the exception of my Ghost Bear Pilot... who remains in the can till Clans actually launch. No sense using a test pilot when there are no vehicles to test yet!

The proof is in the pudding--their statements about CW are prima facie evidence of intentional deceit, if not the second, then the third and subsequent times.

Try taking that to court and you will get laughed at and thrown out.

They said X and didn't deliver =/= proof of intentional deceit.

Which, while I knew that, I figured you were not an ass as well.

Thank you for providing strong evidence otherwise, so I can move on.

Because you decided to be an ass this time, somehow makes all your other posts wrong?

News to me.

I don't like posts because I like the person - I don't even pay attention to who is posting it the bulk of the time.
Only things I care about is what they say, and how they say it.

Oh oh oh, another one, alt accounts are a great way to prove that several pilot efficiencies don't work.

I think the pros get really big piles of xp and c bills then sell the account and do it again.

Selling something for money would make it a profession... sorta. :P

I made alt accounts for three-ish reasons. One, to use the cadet bonus to play around with mechs that I wouldn't be buying on my main account. Two, to get a chance to play with some of the 'bad' (read: non-meta) sort of mechs and builds that I enjoyed early in my mechwarrior career at an elo level where that won't get me vaporized 9/10 games. Three, to have accounts at a lower elo so that I can drop with new players and show them the ropes without dragging them into high-elo games where they would just get murdered.

I don't have alt accounts.

However, some reasons for them:

1) Receive the cadet bonus multiple times. Although you lose out on sharing modules and engines you could specialize each account in one mech and the cadet bonus would make it alot easier/faster to obtain the specific mech for each account.

2) Anonymous posting on the forums ... why that would matter I have no idea but some folks like to make outrageous statements that can not be associated with their main character.

3) Folks who are obsessed on statistics. I couldn't care less where my KDR or W/L stand but some folks go to extremes to maintain these so they might have an account they use for competitive or team play and another account just for playing.

4) Similarly, folks who want to try trial mechs to see if you like them, without affecting statistics, might have an alt account.

So basically, I can see 3 reasons:
- anonymity
- cbills from multiple cadet bonus
- statistics

Edit: The other reasons cited by some in terms of playing in different ELO brackets and helping new players also make a lot of sense.

Forgot one...I only have an alt account for guests to be able to play, like my brothers who don't have interest in playing the game regularly, but might once in a while when visiting.
