what is out there that is better than fraps for recording games?

I've heard people say OBS is good. I use Fraps myself, and no major complaints. Haven't tried anything else.

Nvidia Shadowplay if you have a 6 or 7 series card.

OBS is also a good alternative if you have that, as it can leverage the same NVENC encoder that Shadowplay uses to reduce CPU hit.
OBS however is a fantastic application regardless, whereas Shadowplay will only work with 6/7 series cards.

But those two are the best I've come across. Fraps is nasty.
