I seriously think this mech is cursed, i lose a lot in this mech and either do very well or very poor in terms of kills.

im looking for a metabuild that will allow me to drop in randoms and not feel undergunned or outbuilt.

Im not looking for stat for stat the best build but im looking for something... GOOD.

Right now im running er LL er PPC 3 srm 6 and an lrm 10 its good but very team dependent, i want something that can operate well without teamwork if necessary.

I made a similar build on the 9M becuase i was tired of so much meta poptarts so i found something that could hit back in the air and hit back after they land
It works well for long range support however you must be wise of your PPC use sometimes you require more pinpoint damage then splash damage at range and use the ppc's with 1 lrm 15 launching

Averaging 401 damage with 71 matches so far
with 1.24 win loss and 2.26 kill death
41 to 33 Win loss and 86 to 38 kill death
Stats are here because i don't think i would be taken seriously without 'stats' You could Also do LRM 30 Artemis if you change a lrm 10 to lrm 5 however with the 4 tubes - 2 LRM 10's firing 4 at each time will punch through more AMS then a lrm 5 with a lrm 10 or you could try 1 er ppc and 1 ppc to have close range firing capability OR two large pulse lasers

Standard engine version at 61.3 kph
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...56efedb8850f302

Or drop a heatsink and change a lrm 10 to a lrm 5 to go 83.5 kph with a xl 375

************************************************************************************************************
Here are other long range builds
86.9 KPH - 2 er large lasers - 1 lrm 15 - 2 lrm 5's - 1080 lrm ammo - tag - 448 armour - 14 doubles
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3afd42fdbbaeec4

***************************************************************************************************************
88.0kph - 1 medium laser - 1 small laser- 1 lrm 15 artemis - 2 lrm 10 artemis - tag - 1260 lrm ammo - 448 armour - 11 doubles
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...df8a54d776e2088

Assault armour going the speed of some medium lrm boats with a punch of lrm's - take out artemis and .50 tonns of armour for 1 er large laser and drop the small laser

Here is a PPC/er large laser and lrm awesome 9m build also that has worked well for me too
Spoiler

I've been struggling with the Pretty Baby lately as well. Settled on this build the other day: http://"http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=58&l=e4a06123e4f91f46c18e309d0f30cc57dc8a606d"

Has done OK so far, though I haven't had the chance to test it extensively.

(Built in Smurfy from memory, may not be totally accurate)

This is the build im currently working the cbills towards, ive had great success with the srms on this awesome because of its speed. the lack of useful energy hardpoints has me convinced that you need to be taking at LEAST ER LL or 2 LPL or either PPC or ERPPC you simply need the firepower,

Also ive been tinkering around with the torso m hardpoint, i think mixing lrm10 with 2 srm 6 is the way to go.

Good at all ranges. if your firing the 2 ERPPCs you have 1.41 heat eff with the 20 DHS with SRM6 and a ML for cool down.
XL400 gets you cruising at 90KPH.
Use the ERPPCs as long as possible staying out of harms way for the beginning of the match. Since Awesomes are easy to kill this is bascally a must IMO. then in the late game you can close with your speed or reposition whatever you like.
Its not particularily good against lights, but you could replace the ML and SRM6 for a few streaks if you find lights to be a problem.

Keep in mind its still a PB and will probably still suck lol. Also the 10% decrease in braking is a huge hinderance until you get the 2X pilot skills.

I regularly run an XL385 battlemaster with 4 LPL and 3 MGs. 3.0 kd, the G it replaced had a 4.0. LPLs arent as limited as a lot of people would like to think and with that much speed it could be utterly devastating.

Gonna have to paint it od green though...

BLRs dont compare to Awesomes in anyway. Nothing compares to awesomes when it comes to (easy to kill assults).
I too run 390 XL BLRs they are actually good.

One more thing, the speed of the PB seems to be used best for quick repositioning rather than a brawling feature. The size of the awesome means no ammount of speed will save you from being side or CT cored. If you cant hit the same section of an awesome every time, than something is wrong with that players aim.

This thread isnt about how much the awesome sucks, which it doesent btw.

I love the awesome flaws and all, for one reason.
Those motha ****** lasers,
the awesome can fight on when all the jagers and catapaults are run out of ammo.

Try this one, slightly less fast but two ppcs allow you to reach out and touch em and 3 streak 2s will keep those lights away.

Well ... it does suck when compared to all other assults, but that doesnt mean you still cant to great in it, you could do better in other mechs is all it means. you know like an XL400, 8 energy banshee for instance.

Hey Jax, none of your links work. You might have to re-paste them to have proper links.

Also, the I'm with you the Awesome in general is a cool mech... but PB is soooo troublesome to build and play.

I'd personally like to see another energy hardpoint added to the mech either in the LT or the RA and if they actually wanted to make this mech as agile as the write-up fluff suggested well then it should get an accel/deccel buff instead of the current nerf. I wanna like this thing... Hell I wanna love it but with everything thats holding it back the 9M is still my go-to Awesome.

I'm currently running XL300 (upgrading to XL350 when I can afford to) 2xLPulses + 3xSRM6 as a close range face puncher (if you're not hitting an already weakened component on a mech you better be going for its pilot).

Yes the Awesome is the poor cousin of the Assault family but to be fair most people are playing it wrong, everyone knows what's wrong with it and proceed to complain when it's centre section vanishes.
As a cleanup mech it's brutal, picking off the weak and injured when they rush a corner, swingshot SRMs at damaged lights and such.

For a close-midrange fighter I find it's not quite as well off as the 9M, the lasers are more reliable consistent damage..but those SRM6's are nasty if you learn to make them work.

Worth mentioning the advantage of chain firing those SRM's instead of one huge cluster, you'll get a more accurate grouping to a specific part of a mech and it throws off a lot of pilots face to face.

*Fire cluster of SRM's = long cooldown now and enemy pilot has clear view with weapons lined up for a great pinpoint shot of your vulnerable torso.
*Chain fire repeated SRM's at his cockpit - enemy pilot fires wild and blind spreading the damage across your legs, arms, torso, head and often missing entirely.

With that said I don't care about my stats, don't know what they are..I do know the most fun I have in my PB is when we're doing something stupid like facing off against an atlas at point blank range. When you walk over their smoking wreckage it's a great feeling.

I'm running a similar build to that one, but with 2LL 1ML rather than 1LPL 2ML.
Only ran out of ammo once, but I died shortly after that (got light-swarmed)

Swapped to LL, because while the LPL is longer range than most people realize (and most fighting happens well within their range) I kept winding up needing to shoot at people just out of that range (up on pillars on Tourmaline for example)

If you are curious -
WG1 - LL
WG2 - LL
WG3 - ML
WG4 - SRM

4 weapon groups - I fire the 2LL together when the stars align (happens surprisingly often), but have them split so I can arm-swing when I need to (and to help control heat)
SRM are on mousebutton4/WG4 because I only fire them at point-blank (if I had more than 4 mouse buttons I might have put them into two groups though)

Very true on the awesome chassis. Yeah its not great, but it's fun, and it's not as doomed as people paint it.

I remember a game in my 9m,last mech for my team with like 70‰ health. Managed to get like 3 kills and died to the last two enemies. I actually had my team cheering for me with comments like "hats off to you sir for making the Awesome work" and similar. And I only pug. Great feeling making the underdog chassis useful
