I do believe MW:O said they will be alowing mercenary corps in place of the traditional gaming "clan". This was done for the very sake that Clans in BattleTech (and MechWarrior) are a very big part of the story. So you might end up being known as Merc Corp Storm Chaser Dragons... or whatever.

But maybe Alex Kerensky brought some native storms from Terra to the Kerensky Cluster and due to...uhm...local fauna or something those storms started to look like Dragons...and then Nicky had the idea for a 21st Clan...Clan Dragon Storm...which...uhm...yeah, I don't know what happend.
