Hey guys. I was trying to get a list of the 50 mech pilots for LIAO faction challenge. Please fill out the list. Thanks. p.s not sure why the numbers are not showing up. I think that LIAO did fine. With the lower numbers and I feel that many of our members play heavy or smaller mechs more often I would expect these results. Maybe I am just guessing but the top 5 or so of each faction were probably running assaults with LRMs and Arty and got some good Arty hits on conquest maps. I am sure there are ways to get1k dam scores more often but when I opted in for the tourny it was to see how I would do in the mech I like to actually play. Right not thats the cataphract. I wish they had broken out the tables by class and maybe tossed a few hundered MC to the top 5 in each class or some free color or patterns. Just a thought.

I know a lot of Liao players don't read these forums, but interested to see what we get.

Its a damn shame I didn't manage to Opt in, Sunday I played Back to back two of the best matches of all time for Smokeyjedi complete with smack-talk; was sole survivor 7-11(we won)after having personally challenged a PPC spider.......I ended up killing all 5 of the remaining enemies FTW. I managed about 12-13 devastating drops out of roughly 25ish(did have 2 really awful LRM deaths early on in 1 or 2 games too(fueled the fire I am sure) But damn Smokey was on fire.............

Awesome work Smokey! I did opt-in and was settling down to a long weekend of mech bashing but ended up with a handful of games only :)

Here's my score for what it is worth:

BLR-1D wasn't my faction but my mech ;) . When we team up we use the name "the knights who say neg"... other lance mates in #55, #120, and #to lazy to opt in.

I only managed to play Saturday (and very early Sunday), due to RL vacation time.

#24, one below last time- 1,953 rating. When I left, I was dropping from #1 into no longer even being in the top 10 -which tells you what not playing through the entire tournament cost me in terms of being able to contribute. By 11 AM Sunday:

And of course, I ended up at 24th. Note that our previous #1 just swapped to another faction for the MC- that'd be Eglar, who took #1 in Rasalhague instead- doing what he did last time, whoring a random smaller faction for some easy MC.

I am beyond disappointed. A lack of individual effort on top of low faction population- the "best" Capellan pilot scored a full 100 points less than the best Steiner one, never mind the other factions that did better- and the Steiners placed FOURTH overall. Our best effort this time would have put them in a tie for SIXTH place last tournament with other Capellans- and he also happened to score 100 points less than last time. It wouldn't have even -ranked- in Lone Wolves if every Liao pilot had decided not to play in our own faction at all, putting us collectively below a guy with an obscene name that got changed to "Inappropriate9958811".

And FFS, I got #24th this time playing for only one day of the tournament in a 'Mech that wasn't even skilled up past BASICS, an Orion-V!

Hey wanderer, I don't think you should take the "faction" part of it so seriously. The top players are actually competitive players who are more aligned with their teams rather than their faction. As you saw, Eglar has no faction allegiance. HoL, which I think includes several of the #1 players and which will probably win the official tourney, is not a real unit. The guys who play Liao and who I've spoken to on TS have all been real BT fans. These are the guys I'd rather be playing with in all honesty.

Every 2 weeks one server hosts.......sooner or later more will come!

I'd rather play with them as well. It just paints a dire picture for later. Capellan players have to be better than other ones, because there are fewer of them. This time, not only were they not, there were no individual standouts. We had players that improved. We had none that improved enough to excel. I have no problems with having nobody as good as Eglar. I have every worry about nobody being able to keep up with any faction. Our best was barely better than the #5 on most factions. We were last in every sense of the word. Last is the most dangerous place to be in PvP.

If nothing else, just think about community warfare coming along and suddenly, you pay through the nose compared to everyone else- because you're the obvious punching bag and your planets will belong to every faction within attacking distance except your own. Dead last in a PvP game means you cease to exist because the easiest prey is the prey everyone eats. And that's not fun. And when not fun occurs, shortly thereafter there are no more Capellans that actually care.

Get better. Show the flag. Every game. Or the **** that will come down on your heads for having that Liao sword next to your names will be like being the kid stuffed in the lockers in high school times a few dozen orders of magnitude, as it happened before. The last time it happened, it took getting the Kuritans in on a dirty sneaky code-bending orgy of Davion butt-kicking beyond the rules of the game to get some peace and respect.

I am far, far too old to be pulling that off twice. Get in on tournaments. Get good on tournaments. Get someone else at the bottom of enough charts and stop looking like a free lunch, because right now, that's what we got. We need proud, flag-waving-up-yours-I'm-Liao-and-I-owned-you players that can back up their trash talk and leave people wanting to know more. And no, trash talk isn't enough without results. That just means that if you talk first and fail second, all you will be in their eyes is talk. Trash them first, trash talk them second.

This should be the average newbie after seeing a Capellan at the top of the charts. If there are no Capellans at the top of the charts in your games in some form, even if you lose 0-12, then you need to feel bad about it until you regularly are outdamaging, or outkilling, or outlasting the rest of the non-Capellans on your team. Or all of them at once.

And then make people look at your numbers next tournament and give them something to talk about. You don't have to be the top, but you cannot be last.

I think you might be forgetting that this tournament is heavily skewed towards Assault mechs... Liao is not suppose to have assault mechs... (In this time frame anyway.. lol..)

See there is a Liao flags scattered all about when comes to chassis specialisation tournaments. (Note Lights top 5... :) )

I agree with ShinVector on the tourny being a bit skewed towards assaults. You have a better chance of living longer and doing more damage in a match and with LRMs you can atleast get more asst kills than most. I am hoping that PGI will use the data from this to actually see what build did well and what didn't and try...without breaking more stuff to encourage people to play roles. One formula for all mechs for a tourny seems a flaw from the start. You need to have a formula for each class of mech based on what you want that role to be. Want lights to go around and spot and scout then reward that in the tourny for lights and not focus on dam and asst kills so much. I was in a heavy and while I did get a few scores over 200 using the formula it was not easy and I had to play more than my wife wanted :). Then you have to throw in the ELO and the PUG nature. Those two things can make your matches turn out very badly. I even think that all 12 people using the arty and air strikes is hurting the matches as well. I would think that PGI would put a global cooldown on the use so that maybe during a match every 5 mins you could use Arty or perhaps once per lance. Something to keep it from being a bit op. I want it in the game but in a more reasonable manner. I think that PGI has a lot more things to fix first and they seem to be more focused on pushing mechs out to make money than addressing some core things to encourage more play. I was getting tired of having to rearm my consumables between matches and was wishing MWO was more like WOT in the rearming between matches. Even if that was something that was a perk of premium time I would be fine with it. Would also be good if your ELO or whatever was displayed so we would know and these tournys were broken out even by say bronze, silver, gold ELO levels. When you opt in you get put in the level you are at. Just some thoughts....look forward to laying more with you all.

E
