I've sank many hours into games against the bot. Megamek kept my interest in the TT alive when I couldn't find anyone to play against (since not many people I know have disposable income, much less time.)

I'd be down for a few matches. Rusty as hell.

So we have at least a few!

How are we going to do this?

uh, if anyone has either MSN or AIM, we could arrange matches via that, all you need to connect to someone is their IP and if they set a password, a password

The forum appears to have a functioning message system if we want to use that.

Good news, maybe we should have a setting/rule preference topic to see who likes to use what rules

I have a pretty good rules setup for my server, a blend of the not idiotic TacOps rules and some RPG settings.

add my MSN, matthew_yeager@hotmail.com, and we can maybe get a small game going today.

I used to play all the time. Does it run smoothly now or is it still buggy as hell?

Tried the last couple of days still learning the rules and gameplay. Yesterday i tried a bot battle against 2 stars of clanners with tanks supported by 2 lances of aerospace and an union dropship. My first attempt was crashing the union to the ground and the fighters kept stalling finally meeting with mother earth. It was fun tou.

I was introduced to Battletech backwards starting with Mechwarrior 4.... so I've never actually played the table top (time, money, lack of players in my area) Didn't realize what I was missing out on until I stumbled on MegaMek. With all the calculations and rules handled by the computer the game is incredibly easy to introduce and set up with other players. I got a few of my friends into doing a 3030 campaign going into the Clan invasion using MekHQ. Awesome stuff :D

I usually play several games against the bot per day. I'd be up for a game.

Man, I haven't played MegaMek in ages.

Did they ever fix the squirrely dice code? Main reason I quit playing was the statistically aberrant numbers of headshots and critical hits in earlier versions.

does not seem so bad now. and there is a RNG log, so if you really wanted to pick it apart it allows you to. besides some freak occurrences, it seems fair.

A lot of that feeling was just the adjustment from playing pure TT to online, especially at the higher tech levels. Not only do you have a wider variety of people to play against (including some of the best players in the world) but you also start seeing more of the cluster weapons since you don't have to roll individually/mark off bubbles.

There are several log analyzers out ther, and every server I've played on (which is most of them) was statistically accurate over the course of time.
