I'm idling regularly in /tg/'s #Battletech channel to get regular MM games - but a match against some MWO people would be really nice. Though, I am genuinely horrible.

I was introduced to MM by a guy who learned BT playing it. Its fun to throw together a BT match, but the AI is less that brilliant. Low grav worlds tend to cripple mechs, and the last battle I had in it, I won pretty much because Assault Mech + Jump Jets + Building + AI = FAIL. Ian leared the hard way, I aint AI - "Damn it, Don, stop breaking line of sight!"

That said, my most recent game was recent - a company on company, Sword of Light vs. Lyran Guards. Move. Read a few pages in a book. Move. Read some more. Point and laugh at the AI for botching a skid roll. Move...

MekWars: Legends: http://www.mekwarslegends.com/
MegaMekNET3025: http://www.mekwars.org/

Those two & the Shack (linked previously) are the main MekWars campaign servers currently running. I wasn't really interested in the Shack due to it's rapid timeline, but I have played on both of the other two, and have a preference for Legends.

I have a barebones server setup, but don't have a reliable host currently. If I get one, I'd be more than happy to run a casual server for people to pick up games on. In the meantime, if anyone is interested, my Yahoo information is available on my profile here and I can run it on my personal computer for some pickup games (I don't have a static IP or domain name, however, so can't just post the information... contact me through Yahoo).

First real cycle starts Dec 14th-- Mach (the guy that put it together) has done an amazing job of making every faction build table true to the fluff, including how he will be advancing the timeline during the course of the cycle. MW4E starts in 3050 and every few weeks it will advance by one year, opening up new equipment/mechs/etc.

It's a bit of a ghost town since beta testing ended, but I figure there will be a few of you guys interested in checking in out in a few weeks.

Has he linked it to the tracker? There are other means of attracting a playerbase as well, but without that I think he will be missing many people.

Ah, that's right. I never even looked in on it. The numbers were always low when I looked at the tracker.

Mostly because it's been in a really rough beta the whole time. But the past few tests have had really good stability, the biggest thing holding it from going live has been building all the tables and researching all the correct dates.

MegaMek's campaign server populations have been low in general the past few months anyway, but that has always been rather cyclical.

Wonder if it would be possible to hold a weekly (?) regular MM session. And advertise it on these forums ofc. Can't really hurt to try to make the TT concept more known via MM. Considering in some threads people pop up who seem to have about the same opinion about TT players as about pedophiles... <_<

I would love to play some casual games. I have a real feel for the setting, but so many of the campaign servers are just way, way too crunchy. I like giant robots and interstellar soap opera for men. I do not like macroeconomics.

If there is enough interest for casual gatherings for MegaMek games, I'd be happy to make my server available.

Message me if interested.

Sounds good, and if those MM matches would basically cap available Mechs at 3050 we'd be sort of in line with what is planned for MWO. Not sure how much time you want to spend on this, but if you'Re willing, some sort of announcement in General Discussion might be useful to gauge initial interest.

Ofc considering you might get some complete newbies to MM, you might have to type a few lines what this is about, where to get MM and stuff. I'd willing to help, maybe I could even talk my clan leader into loaning us access to our TS server for a couple of hours if I know it in advance.

My server is just a barebones setup... no automatic operations, no factories or production, just a way for people to have live chat & host games with MegaMek. Any caps would have to be agreed on by the participants in each game.

You are referencing the MekTek MW4 mercenaries Download. MegaMek is a computer version of the Table Top Battletech Game ;)

But so you dont feel alone, I have that issue as well & have notified the MekTek guys about the bug. I do not know of any fixes as of yet, Sorry.

To fix the Hesperus bug, you need the Hotfix patch, located here.

But yes, this is a thread about a completely different game. Come! Join us!
