Hi

If the clan have the better tech, why both Clan scouts can't run over 100 km/h?
Even the 55 ton medium Stormcrow runs over 90 kmh.

Spiders and Cicadas reach over 140 km/h, clan mechs are supposed to do all better.

Possible that only a clan garrison mech as the Incubus can reach 150 kmh speed?
http://www.sarna.net.../Incubus_(Vixen)

Thanks

see Dasher, Myst Lynx, and there are a few others.
in TT, jenners and firestarters moved just as fast as the clan lights, but the fact they can upgrade the engine changes all of this

I guess PGI thought the firepower would be an even trade. I would prefer to have the option though.
I like the KitFox but it is slow for a light(in MWO terms)

The lights included currently aren't scout mechs. They are support mechs. As Lucky Moniker noted, the scout mechs aren't in the game yet.

The clan mechs can outfit themselves for many roles, but any that require changing engine sizes they won't work with very well. This mostly effects the lights, as you can live with whatever speed you get in the larger mechs.

Run your Kit Fox and Adder as Heavy and Assault support mechs. They'll appreciate it and you will live longer.

Mech Jesus cries everytime he see's a Kit Fox without a C arm on it.

First of all remember that all mechs in MWO are based off the mechs from the Battletech game. The Adder and Kit Fox were designed with somewhat above average firepower for their size and traded off speed to be more of fire support mechs. Omnimechs can change their loadout to basically anything you want with the disadvantage of being unable to change any of the fixed equipment, including being unable to change the engine whereas battlemechs you can do anything with, but it takes a lot more time and work to do so.

In MWO this means IS lights are already a bit faster at the baseline since the roles are different, but the fact they are battlemechs means they can be refit for a bigger engine for even more speed.

The other two Omnis clans have aren't in the game yet and have good speed, especially the Fire Moth (even more so when using MASC)

Most of all, people seem to have forgotten something. Clan mechs are designed to complement each-other. All lights go @ the same speed, the same all the way up. This makes it easier to stay together as a unit. This way, everyone arrives together. The Clans recognized that "specialty" mechs are not worth the extra investment. The clan scout mechs were often used as a simple screening force, or fast flanking elemental transports.

And besides, wait till the Shadowcat arrives. You wanna see what fast is?

First, difference in mentality. Clanners don't scout, they just meet the enemy in the field of battle and duke it out.

In terms of Scout Mechs, though, the Clans are somewhat weird when it comes to traditional roles for their battlemechs. Their lights are more heavy fire support (a role typically reserved for Heavies), their mediums are their scout mechs (e.g. Ryoken), the Heavies are the workhorses (e.g. Mad Cat, Thor), a role typically reserved for mediums, and the Assaults are their goliaths (par for the course: Dire Whale... err... Wolf). If you want an ACTUAL Clan scout mech, may I suggest:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Fenris

http://www.sarna.net...ist_Lynx_(Koshi)

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Dasher

Only the last one can't really be implemented in game due to requiring MASC and absolutely breaking the max speed limit in game (210+ kph! Woo!). The Koshi has a single variant that really can't be taken (the A variant due to A-pods), while the Fenris is just freaking amazing.

So yes, there are Clan scout mechs. Problem is, they aren't implemented, even if they SHOULD be.

Those particular mechs are NOT scouts but light combat mechs.

Both the Adder and the Kitfox are Clan sniper mechs.

Also I might add... The Shadowhawk is an Inner Sphere recon, fire support and artillery spotter mech at 55 tons. It's also known for paper thin armor (equal to that of a Raven 2X or Firestarter FS9-A 35 ton mech in many cases).

Most actual scout mechs happen to go between 81 to 129 kph.
Less than 2% of the Inner Sphere and Clan mechs would actually go faster than 129 kph.

PGI's speeds are heavily over-inflated with speed tweak.

Wrong.
The reason for that over-inflation isn't speed tweak, its that PGI in their infinite wisdom not only allowed freely changing the engine, they also removed the original engine rating limits (in TT, engine rating has to be a multiple of the weight).
Combine that with certain engine problems like lag shield, damage spread, doubled armor, ghost heat and ECM, and you get ridiculously effective speed demon builds that possess greater survivability than Assaults, so you get LOTS of them.

I'm aware of that issue.
But that has nothing to do with why a 250 engine can outperform a 275 engine on the same mech when one has speed tweak and the other does not.

Speed tweak does.

It's more about people being far too used to zoom-zoom-zooming in and out of enemy formations and relying on high-speed, gunnery error, and bad hitreg to help them survive.

It's not like a lot of the IS light pilots were looking to scout anyways. They were looking for assaults to harass. They didn't give a toss if the rest of the team knew where the enemy was.

What exactly IS the max speed limit in the game in this day and age? I've had some trouble finding it.
